Unprecedented influence: Almost 10 percent of superdelegates are Jewish
And many of them have declared their support for Hillary Clinton, accounting for more than 15 percent of her current backers.

All told, more than 70 Jewish superdelegates will make the trip to Denver this summer for the Democrats’ nominating convention. They account for about 9 percent of the party’s nearly 800 so-called superdelegates, the informal term for elected and party officials whose status as delegates to the convention does not depend on state primaries and caucuses.

It would be a history-making experience: Although Jews, who make up about 2 percent of the U.S. populations, have long been considered a formidable voting bloc, they have only more recently become common as Democratic establishment insiders, with unprecedented numbers of both Jewish elected officials and party leaders.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

In the years since World War II, however, the number of Jewish politicians has grown significantly, with 33 Jewish members elected to Congress in 2006, up from 13 in 1950. In addition, over the past 15 years, the Democratic National Committee has been led by three Jewish chairs — Americans for Peace Now head Debra DeLee; Massachusetts-based party activist Steve Grossman and Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, all of whom are now backing Clinton — while the current chairman, former Vermont governor Howard Dean, is married to a Jewish woman and has raised his children as Jews. Of the DNC’s nine national officers, three are currently Jewish.

49. I'm concerned about all natural, inherent, inalienable rights enumerated and unenumerated in state
constitutions and ultimately in the Bill of Rights.

One of those rights is the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms for self-defense.

That was the main question in D.C. v. Heller heard by SCOTUS on 18 March 2008 and a decision will probably be released in June.

The Democratic Party supports that right, a basic civil right, although several prominent Dem politicians do not support that part of the party platform.

only way you could know that anyone who you accuse of trying to speak for all Jews is wrong, is by knowing what all Jews believe.

Of course that cannot be because you say "MY opinion. I speak for myself".

66. No one group is "all" anything. Hence it's generally not a good idea to try to speak for all of them
Regardless.

You don't have to know all of any group to know that they're not all going to think the same things. That's just logical.

Furthermore, one can only ever really speak for themselves. I would flip your sentiment around. You can't speak for an entire group unless you know what that group believes, which would require knowing them.

45. Excuse me?
Because I would think that any Jew, even a convert, would be cognizant of the long history of bias that Jews have faced over the idea that all Jews thought the same, and what a steaming pile of crap that is. To see somebody invoking that same myth is extremely offensive to both Jews and friends of Jews alike.

Come to think of it, let's bring IndianaGreen in here, with her hebrew Obama sticker, and let her beat you about the head a bit with this point.

34. Clinton, Obama Closely Matched Among Jewish Democrats
http://www.gallup.com/poll/105595/Clinton-Obama-Closely-Matched-Among-Jewish-Democrats.aspx

PRINCETON, NJ -- Jewish Democratic voters show a slight preference for Hillary Clinton (48%) over Barack Obama (43%) for the party's 2008 presidential nomination. The five-point Clinton advantage is within the margin of error for this sample of Jewish Democrats.

Most Jews votes Democratic, so it makes sense that they would have an influence on Democratic politics that is greater than the percentage of the population they make up.

60. Oh man
What a thread...

Jew for Obama here. And personally I think that the current projected preference for Hillary among American Jews is primarily due to the fact that she's... HELLO GLADIS the Senator from New York!

Personally, I like many Jews I know are torn about the situation in Israel. There is nastiness on both sides. I am not offended by or frightened of Obama or anyone else sympathizing with the Palestinians. What pisses me off is people on either side of the issue who act like one side is completely blameless... anyways.

Half of my immediate family bucks the national Jewish trend and generally votes Puke. But my Brother says he's leaning for Obama in the general, and my sister has become a democrat over the last few years. I'm working on my father heh. They are not bad people they just get their information from the MSM.
