1. Well my great-grandmother lived to 101 and no one else in the family has. |
|
In fact, my brother died last year at the age of only 51.
One never knows when their time is up. Genetics is only a very small part of the whole picture.

3. I've heard that genes only accounts for 30% of longevity. |
|
The rest is lifestyle and personal choices. Besides, McCain only got half of his genes from his mother.

4. Who cares how long McCentury lives... |
|
...he can't even keep the Suni and Shia factions straight at his current age. In a few years, he'll think that Suni and Shia are yoga positions.

6. he was a POW for several years, which most likely included |

poor nutrition and extreme stress.
That will take a decade off no matter how old your mother is.

8. He also smoked and drank a lot in his younger days. |
|
There's a picture of him with a pack of cigarettes back in 1974.
He didn't exactly make the best lifestyle choices when he was younger.

that he's implying that he'll live out a presidential term in good health simply because his mother is 95 and in good shape. He never mentions that his father only lived to be 61. His life expectancy could fall anywhere in between. His imprisonment and injuries certainly would take their toll. Fidel Castro's parents lived into their 90s but it's questionable whether he'll do the same. There are no guarantees for anyone.

13. Well, of course he's implying that he will be in good health for the |
|
next four years. No candidate is going to get up there and admit to having a sniffle, let alone anything serious. Youth doesn't always equate to good health either, think of JFK's Addison's disease. McCain does have a good point too, because many people are living much longer and more productive lives. I think for any Presidential candidate these days it's just as important to see who their VP pick is. As you say, there are no guarantees for anyone, and the presidency can be a risky position. I am sure each occupant has had many potential threats defused by the Secret Service.
