Hillary used GOP talking points against Obama today....verified by media.
Edited on Fri Apr-11-08 09:58 PM by madfloridian
I heard the two talking airheads on CNN say that earlier this evening. One of them said that showing up on their blackberry were the talking points from the GOP...and that Hillary was using some of them.

This NYT blog verifies she did this.

Here are her words.

“It’s being reported that my opponent said that the people of Pennsylvania who faced hard times are bitter. Well, that’s not my experience,” Mrs. Clinton told an audience at Drexel University. “Pennsylvanians don’t need a president who looks down on them, they need a president who stands up for them, who fights for them, who works hard for your futures, your jobs, your families.”

After making her remarks before a crowd of voters, aides to Mrs. Clinton issued several statements criticizing Mr. Obama, including ones that contained criticism from Republicans.

Obama slams critics

Those words are coming in a close second in being outrageous to the words she used when our 4000th soldier died in Iraq.

"And I believe that at the same time that we have to make clear to the Iraqis that they have been given the greatest gift that a human being can give another human being – the gift of freedom. And it is up to them to decide how they will use that precious gift that has been paid for with the blood and sacrifice and treasure of the United States of America."

Many of us who did not make early decisions in this race are forming new opinions of the Clintons. It is not a comfortable feeling at all.

Seeing the Clintons in a new light

I keep seeing new facets of the former first family emerging. There is something rather sad and wistful about what we are witnessing. There is no joy in it. Just a kind of numbness and fatigue.

There is an insightful blog post about Obama's words today. You might have to read it twice, but it is worth it to do so. Obama spoke the truth. He was forced to explain because it was not what the media wanted, not what the Clintons wanted to hear. It would have gone unnoticed most likely without the watchers watching to catch him saying something to take attention of Bill Clinton's gaffes about Bosnia.

Obama says something true. Predictably dumbasses freak out.

Barack just pissed off the whole USA by saying something that's basically true. It might not be convenient and it certainly doesn't meet our usual standards of ass-kissing vote-pandering, but it certainly isn't untrue.

..."Obama isn't saying that every poor white person goes bigot. He is merely recognizing that xenophobia, bigotry and discriminatory acts tend to increase when the economy is in the shitter. That's not ground-breaking and it isn't insulting.

None of this matters, though. The world is pissed off. He didn't just touch the third rail, he did so while wearing a suit made of copper wiring.

The people who smell a little bit of the ugly truth cooking in their own kitchens will get disproportionately defensive. Those who are more interested in winning votes than being honest will mock outrage.

Truthtelling as opposed to pandering started in the Democratic party in 2003. It did not stick then, but it is by golly going to stick now.

We can not use talking points anymore. We can not survive as a country that way.

Hillary's use of talking points sent out by the GOP makes me wonder if she is considering a run as McCain's running mate if Obama wins. Not so far-fetched, since she openly said the party rules for delegates did not apply to her.

Also, you seemed to show no outrage when Obama used right wing talking points against HRC in Ohio(regarding Healthcare).

Aren't you one of the ones mocking Obama's campaign that offers hope and promotes change and don't you mock the Obama supporters for their support of him, for believing in his optimism? Haven't you called his supporters cultist and laughed that the cling to false visions?

Now you think he looks down on people? WTF!?!

You know you can't have it both ways, he can't be looking down on Americans while raising them up, while giving them hope and while making them believe change is possible.

He looks down on the status quo, the corporate elitist, like the candidate you support. It is she that is negative and her campaign sucks life out of folks, it replaces that life with false rage and useless anger.

Having posted with you on other subjects on this board, having shared common concerns, I find your position now sad. It is one thing to support your candidate, it is another to continuously smear based on false positions and distortions.

It must take a great deal of energy to hate with such determination and to change outrage at the drop of a hat.

would be as delusional as HRC's wild ride to Bosnia ---

People who exploit labor are looking down on the people ---
and Obama is pointing that out--

These trade agreements -- supported by HRC and the GOP --- exploit workers and destroy communities --
ultimately have the power to destroy our economy.

You provide Obama campaign talking points -- completely unrelated to the original complaint about Clinton dissing Obama's 'bitter' remark -- and use them to buttress your criticism that Clinton is using talking points.

By the way, republicans don't own the language, and it isn't an original thought that voters might not like to be labeled as bitter, and might not like having their affinity for guns and god labeled as some mere diversion from what he thinks they should be focusing on.

To discredit Hillary's healthcare plan even though Obama knows in his heart Hillary has the best plan. I didn't see any of the Obama supporters getting all upset for that. Obama supporters have standards for one candidate and a different set of standards for the other candidate. Basically what I'm saying is most Obama supporters on DU are partisan.

Complete OP in 13 words: "It's now HRC's fault that people in PA know BO is an asshole."

56. every day you post ad naseum right-wing talking points about Clinton
Obama's campaign actually asked the media when they were going to start going after Bill and affairs. Obama suggested that Bhutto was killed because of Clinton's votes.

And you all have the nerve to be in full fauxoutrage mode when Clinton says: Obama is wrong, you are not bitter.

You guys have jumped the shark. You are so fullfuryblindagainst Clinton that you run off with redfaced, smoke coming out your ears screaming at every little thing Clinton does and says--and give Obama a pass on EVERYTHING he says or does not say.

The PA voters are hopeful. We can see that by how the numbers/polls are shifting Barack's favor.

66. Bad enough when they blamed Obama for FL and MI....this is worse.
She was just called out by the NYT and CNN for using the talking points sent out by the GOP.

But it was bad when they tried to kneecap Obama by blaming him for the FL and MI fiascos.

67. Perhaps
He should at least be trying to get his message acrossed about the audacity of hope rather than plunging down into small town America with such comments as ,he doesn,t understand why it is those people don,t join his camp. That was fallowed by the other comment the one where he didn,t give the people the wright of way threw his theme, you know the one, the audacity of hope. He seems to think that they, or the people are expected to know and just flock to his camp heart in hand.
Not buying it, seems to me that the wrong ways about wright have taken it,s toll on Obama. What you might call under the influence.

He seems to have exceptional qualities although his short commings are adding up Quick.
Out of touch and elitist is a combination of words that raises a flag or two.

The man pitched what you might call a grass roots insult to the people.
Out of touch is to say the least.

It is indeed a long road to November.

I don't like her at all anymore, and I will continue to post when she uses talking points from the GOP.

I am most disappointed in the Clintons.

74. Hillary as McSame's VP...
I had never thought of that, but it would make sense for her. If BO wins, she'd probably have to wait 8 years for another shot at the WH, but if she somehow managed to be McSame's Veep, there's a good chance she'd only have to wait 4 years to run again. She'd certainly bring along some votes for McSame, question is, how many would she cost him. I'm not saying this has ever been discussed by them, but it does make a certain amount of sense.

82. The more I see of HRC, the more disgusted I become . . .
Cafferty made it clear that she was "TWISTING" what Obama had said --

and that charging Obama with being elitist was "ridiculous" ---

In fact, it is the very trade agreements and bankruptcy laws that these people ---
HRC-DLC/McCain-GOP -- have supported which have created "the rust belt."

87. the 30% crazies won't win it for them this time - and if I stand in line with 100 democrats
and next to no republicans again, and we're told that Obama lost narrowly - as Democrats have done repeatedly of late - there's going to be an outcry of voluminous proportions from the masses - we do not want mccain, and I find it comical, downright laughable - that we get reports that mccain is beating obama in polling in NY!

HA!!!!!!!!!!!!! right... it's like they're trying to prep the people into believing McSame has a chance. NY will go Obama 60-40, as other recent polls suggest, but there's those interestingly placed polls out and about that make you realize they're always trying to push a fix.

great post OP! McClinton 08!

Like it or love it ,-it,s a very long road to November.
He threw the audacity of hope slogan down the tubes and thats a fact.
The words he choose to use is the opinion with in him, you just might say it slipped.

Call it what you will, I just don,t think the Obama camp can spin this one.
And the heat hasn,t even been turned up yet.
