3. not to make a cheap shot
I have defended Cindy McCain against some Democrat friends who want to demonize her for her former drug addiction/theft (demonize her as Karl Rove did), but the fact remains that there is no way she would have gotten a deal as she did if she were not a rich, white woman. She would have probably gone to jail.

6. ugh, I hate Rove
I wonder if Karl Rove really is working for John McCain, and at what level he is working for the campaign. I wonder what John McCain's family thinks of that. I watched Bush's Brain recently (which is kind of lame admittedly, but it was interesting seeing how they smeared John McCain), and McCain advisor John Weaver was lamenting that he didn't believe that George Bush could not have known what Rove was doing to McCain. He essentially said "Even if the people at the top aren't ordering the smear campaign, they know exactly what is going on, and they could stop it if they wanted to." He was nearly weeping as he said that. I have a feeling that statement is going to be very ironic in the future

5. She
Did the right thing when she got caught though. She fessed up right away and went into treatment. I think her being rich was part of it but I also think her taking responsibility helped her case.

8. this is true
And at least she wasn't just an heiress who sat on her ass and did nothing with her life. She got a Masters degree and does a lot of charity work, and it's not just for the "novelty" of doing charity work.

10. I hate it
When people attack the spouses and children

Unless of course the spouses or children run for President and start a war with Iraq....than I get mad (That was a slam on Bush not Hillary).

13. haha
I always loved that Meghan Mccain voted for Kerry (even though her Dad makes fun of her for it).

14. Funny thing is
I am not defending the enemy here...when the curtain was closed McCain probably did to after the way Bush smeared his family in 2000.

God knows I could never vote for someone after they said the things about me that Bush did to him.

7. McCain's a good bit older and, yes, he married an heiress.

I'm sure Barack would have married an heiress if he could have. As it is, he and Michelle are pulling in something like $600,000 annually, not counting money he gets from his books, and living in a $1.5 million mansion in Chicago. He has to have a place to live in D.C., too.

And Michelle is whining about how it's going to cost $10,000 to send their two girls to summer camp and pay for their piano lessons. $10,000 for piano lessons and summer camp? There are lots of people living on less than $10,000 a year.

That's elitist.

A point for the McCains: they adopted an orphan from Bangladesh. That's an admirable thing.

John Kerry also married an heiress and they also have numerous homes so I don't think we want to say too much about McCain's $$$.

11. John Kerry Is Not Pointing Fingers
and calling others elitist. Interesting that you would mount a defense of a republican over a dem.

12. Elitist...
1. The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources.

1. The sense of entitlement enjoyed by such a group or class.
2. Control, rule, or domination by such a group or class.
