Obama has rebuffed the DLC. Clinton is a member.

She may make changes, but in comparison is it far more logical to assume that Obama will do more to change the status quo than she.

90. I defended Hillary Clinton when the DEMS were afraid to do so because
the U.S. was overrun by Repuke roaches and she was being attacked at every turn.

But this is not the time to try and see if Hillary *might* win despite being disliked by the Repukes, and it's not the time to see if a woman *might* win despite the sexism, and it's not the time to spend my energy on someone whose husband was impeached by the Repukes yet doesn't have the self-respect, nor the respect for Democrats to pick one of the millions of awesome liberals to raise money with for good causes. Instead, he picked the piggish father of the current pig in the White House.

Nope, Hillary Clinton is nothing to strive for.

91. I agree with you and here are reasons why...
today on CNN and I was impressed with Hillary...she was charming, funny, inspiring, full of hope for the future...Her impersonation was hilarious. I have seen speaches of Obama and this is the first time I had time to watch her campaign and I felt a stir in my heart. A message of hope should encourage people about the good qualities still in their life not what they are bitter about. Everyone knows this country is on the wrong track and it needs change, but I think a message about hope should lift a person up and show them that they still have integrity and dreams and hopes..not despairs, frustrations, antipaty, and anti this and anti that. She was very personal when talking about that company...I cant recall its name...which had to close in Valparaiso and the jobs were outsourced to China. I smiled when I saw that sign "Real me for Hillary".

I turned on the tv to cnn, which despite what many may think, is the BEST show on tv for news, and I saw that live broadcast I quietly sat down and watched it. I was glued to my seat. I am normally surfing the internet for many hours and down watch much television, but today I am glad I did. So what if she lied or misspoke or have a husband who cant keep his mouth shut. It is the issues that are important to me. What she is going to do for people like me that is important to me. I have grown up my entire life believing all politicians lie and so I have to vote for one who lies not the least but lies about the unimportant things. Back in 2004 there was something about Kerry I could not trust. I did not like Bush and there was no way this self respecting democrat would vote for him. But Kerry....I always trust my instincts about people and they are never wrong and my instincts about Hillary is that she will bring about change. She will bring back jobs to America. She has America first in her heart. She will fight for free health care for everyone. She will do everything she sets out in her campaign promise to do. I was sadden those many years ago when she was stopped cold by the republicans on universal health care, but it will not happen this time. Democrats have the edge in Congress this year.

I would like to contribute to her campign. I would like to donate the maximum of 2300 dollars but you see...I am one of those guys Obama was talking about that lost their job and I am not bitter...I dont have a gun...I cling to religion because the Bible is the best source of instruction on the way to live your life...and I dont hate immigrants...I am not frustrated...I am not bitter...But I cant make that donation because I am poor. I am unemployed. My dreams of the job I wanted---Network Administrator--was crushed on 911. The stock on technology burst and there were massive layoffs. It just wasn't the time I suppose. So I still had my hope...Not bitterness and Hillary puts winds underneath the wings of my hope. Hillary 08'

How much do you think Republicans are cracking up over THE HUFFINGTON FREAKING POST being the ones to bring this little gift to them (I'm not saying that Obama should not take responsibility for his words- but did you hear the audio? What, did the blogger smuggle a tape recorder into the fundraiser? Or maybe that audio was provided by the Obama campaign directly, I really don't know). This is the year that the Democrats should be able to KILL, and the Republicans are laughing at us tear each other down. They are screwing with our psyches and turning ourselves against each other.

That is a a good rallying cry, Swede. We are not enemies of each other. Democrats have a reputation for fighting among ourselves and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. We must resolve not to let that happen this time. Thanks for your insight.

31. And did the kids say why?
This is the problem. Most of Obama supporters are in love with the idea of "the one." They don't know why, they don't know how his policies are different from Clinton - they are not. They only know that "something crawled up their legs.." Oh, and his voice does not sound shrill and cackle..

I think that he will be the next president, and it won't take long before you will hear the great disappointment. No one can be everything to everybody. He is now a blank slate that everyone can write whatever they wish. But once in office, his advisers will make sure that he sticks to the tried and trusted center. No, he will not start troop withdrawal immediately; no, he will not cancel NAFTA and any other trade agreement; no, he will not institute universal health care and, no, he will not increase capital gain tax. Are you kidding? From where, do you think, he gets his millions? Even his Supreme Court nominees - and he will have a few - will be very carefully chosen moderate that will not shift the court back to the left.

And, since the deep doo-doo that Bush will leave behind will make it impossible for any president to achieve much of anything, he will be a one-term president and in 2012, if not before, we will lose any majority that we may have in Congress.

But, enjoy your "being part of the majority" while it lasts. A lot easier to join the crowd, especially on DU. Hey, you are not on anyone's "ignore" list.

85. That's really unfair to think you know why those two kids decided to vote for Obama...
They could very well have researched both candidates' voting records, watched the debates, used who knows what criteria to make their decision. Swede just happened to hear their excitement about voting for him while in line behind them. (Supposing) Swede has been following the drama here and wherever else and knows how close they are in policy but had been leaning Hillary for a while. She sees this excitement in young folks who might otherwise not want to vote at all because they don't believe in the politics they've been hearing for so many years. She understands that this election in November could be another close 'easy to steal' election and realizes these new voters, who are loving the potential an Obama Presidency can make for America, could get out in droves and make a difference for the Democratic Party.

I had someone (who is very important to me) use that 'most of Obama's supporters' line about my decision to vote for him as though I saw a Colgate glint on his teeth and fell in love with him. I hear a lot of that here and can't stand it.

I Heard Some Kids Telling Me
How They've Lost All The
Faith In The Way
They've Been Talking World Peace
And The War's In The Streets

The Lines On Their Faces So Deep
A Revolution, Or Reach Out
And Touch The Day
We're Overdue Child

Change
Now It's Time For Change
Nothing Stays The Same
No It's Time For Change

I Feel The Future In The Hands
Of Our Youth Will Be Safe
Old, Tired Fools Tell Our Future
With Tarot Cards,
And Lie Of Crime

The Lines On Their Faces So Deep
A Revolution, Or Reach Out
And Touch The Day
We're Overdue Child

Change
Now It's Time For Change
Nothing Stays The Same
No It's Time For Change

I'll Change
I'll Change
Not Tomorrow But Today

I sense in your words what a difficult struggle it has been for you to come to this point, and I am sorry for however hard it was for you.

Welcome, now, to the ranks of Obama supporters. We have a big fight ahead of us to win the nomination. So glad you're on board now!

:toast:

27. Agreed!
I realize that people may be disappointed that their choice will not be the nominee.

But the enemy is NOT a fellow Democrat. The enemy is the GOP and the same failed policies that have driven this country economically, spiritually, financially, and morally into the ground.

It's time to unite and face the real enemy. Or else in November, we face a defeat this country can ill afford.

36. So do you now start ranting and raging about Hillary and her supporters?
...given that is what passes for 'support' from Obama's supporters.

87. That's Not The Only Shift Here
The comments here are different.

Gone are the hate, the taunts, the insults, the attacks, the sneers, the abuse, the slams, the torture.

Back is the reason, the politeness, the willingness to allow others to disagree, the unity. No hateful attacks; no trip-wire zealot instant vituperation. The venom-spitters are gone; good riddance. Either the babies are asleep, or we've turned a corner.

My Esteemed Collegues . . . welcome back to reason.
