What do you think of Ron Reagan Jr being on the ticket? |
|
Yeah, I am still for Edwards on Kerry's ticket but after hearing this yesterday,
"Dad was also a deeply, unabashedly religious man. But he never made the fatal mistake of so many politicians wearing his faith on his sleeve to gain political advantage. True, after he was shot and nearly killed early in his presidency, he came to believe that God had spared him in order that he might do good. But he accepted that as a responsibility, not a mandate. And there is a profound difference." - Ron Reagan Jr's service remarks, June 11th, 2004
I thought it would be a slap to Shrub and the Neocon's faces with Ron Jr on the ticket? I get the strong feeling Ron Jr and family hates the Bush/Cheney gang.

Ronald P. Reagan on the ticket (he's NOT a "Jr."), but he's been married to his wife, Doria, for about 15 years or so. If he were to campaign, people would notice that he has a wife. :D

Ron Reagan Jr., as far as I know is a bit short on experience. We need someone who can be president if something happens to Kerry. The bar has never been higher for someone serving has president. Our next one is going to have a lot of problems to deal with and his VP should be very capable and experienced as well.

would be perfect; smart, informed, intelligent, handsome. Hell, how about Redford for President. If people thought Reagan was good, they would think Redford is fantastic.

Michael looks like he was adopted from the Limbaugh family, I heard he has a conservative radio talk show. He set up the other two with how deep Reagan's spirituality was. (He subtly low fived Ron after the zingers, or at least that is what it looked like to me.)
Patti had the greatest goldfish story portraying heaven and reinforcing the religious theme. Her story also reinforced that heaven is achieved on God's schedule, not on man's schedule. (Some neo-cons seem to think it is OK to hurry the end of the world.)
Ron had the zingers.

That sounds doubtful, however, is he invited to the convention? If so, maybe Reagan Jr. could have 10-15 minutes at the podium?

I don't think he's held any sort of political office and I doubt he has any experience in areas like foreign policy, economics, etc.
That said, I think the democrats should urge him to join the party and possibly even run for a political office.

15. I think the Reagans are sick of politics... |
|
They are sick of hearing Republican politicians use Reagan's death as an opportunity to bash every liberal under the sun. They are probably just as sick of Democratic politicians using this as an opportunity to portray themselves as being more patriotic and pro-military as Republicans.
This media barrage had little room left for Ronald Reagan the man, because the agenda of the House, Senate, and the Bush administration was being enshrined.

18. I thought he would make a great third party candidate |
|
in Florida and some of the other southern states where the name recognition might pull some votes away from Bush.
I think just about anyone can run in Florida, didn't the GOP find a Monica Morehead to run as an indy in 2000 to keep the Lewinski scandal in people's thoughts? Does anyone know if she is a real person?
