Bittergate drivel
This "bittergate" drivel from McCain`s and Clinton`s Multimillionaire Insider Club got to me. Apparently it`s not only wrong to say some people are bitter, it`s wrong to be bitter.

Like the forced nomads from New Orleans
Like the grief stricken parents after their soldier`s funeral
Like the 58-year old whose job went to India without notice
Like the woman who lost her best friend because he didn`t have health insurance
Like the inner city dweller whose child doesn`t have his own text book
Like the innocent prisoner who can`t afford a freedom-producing DNA test
Like the working single mother too worn out to go on

People are fed up. *F-E-D-U-P* Fed up. While regular folks are losing their homes, going to their nephew`s funeral, walking to work because they can`t afford a new muffler, their "leaders" are appropriating money for a tzetze fly study or a bridge to nowhere. A giant disconnect, that`s what we have. I mean, let`s point out people who don`t wear lapel flag pins while we overlook veterans living under bridges.

The condescension isn`t coming from the Obama camp, it`s coming from the folks who told us we were with our country or against our country in the runup to the occupation. The folks who herded protestors into cages at the last Republican convention. The folks who give us the finger while we were quietly standing on a corner holding a PEACE sign. The folks who dismissed a biracial candidate for president because "Jesse Jackson ran" too. The folks who tell you "government isn`t the answer" unless you`re Wall Street. Of course some of us are bitter.

1. Hillary insults the electorate like Chimpy insulted them. She marginalizes their concerns
and tells them they aren't working hard enough. C'mon you lazy Pennsylvanians, roll up your sleeves and stop lolli-gagging about!

I'm surprised she didn't mention working 3 jobs, and how "uniquely American" that is...

17. The litany of woes listed in the OP were either created or exacerbated by the Bush administration.
So, who do you attack? You need a new username, as it is patently obvious that it's not George Bush whom you truly despise.

2. Right. Nobody notices the bitterness of sheep.
To recognize the bitterness is to allow us our humanity. We ARE bitter, we ARE cynical, and dammit, we keep trying and hoping anyway, because that's being human.

3. Exactly! Her failure to understand American bitterness is Elitist.
Her, McCain, chimpy....they don't know middle-class America.

Middle-class America has been systematically destroyed, and any bitterness felt is justified. If she can't recognize that, she is woefully out of touch.

It's interesting that her and Mccain tag-teamed this one. They must be scared of people's anger towards Washington's contempt of the middle-class being spoken aloud.

Elitist.

4. I know ALOT of people who are bitter
America is not what it used to be, because of the politicians, the media, the corporate elitists who have raped the economy. I took my bitterness and left the country.

What kind of future will my 20 something daughters have? What lies ahead for my 67 year old mother who is struggling to make ends meet, living on SS and Medicare, and working a PT job?

I am not bitter anymore, but I worry about my family members I left behind.

5. I'm not bitter, just worried
But I grew up in the rust belt, and I know my Dad was a little bitter a couple of years ago, when he had to pack up what was left of the factory where his family worked for four generations and send it to Mexico . . .

6. It's interesting that the country I now live in
Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 06:39 AM by 48percenter
has trade protection, a solid manufacturing base, and a completely different attitude towards the manual labor and trades. That is what is missing in the US. I find less distinction between classes. Here the people who pick up litter in the cities are valued members of society. Unlike the attitude you see in the US. The US has turned into a service society. It's no wonder people are a bit bitter.

14. You totally hit the nail on the head
We have lost respect for the honest working person, who puts in their time and works hard to support their family. We worship the idle rich.

Nothing makes people more bitter than to take away their pride in their ability to provide for their families, and make them insecure financially, no matter how hard they work.

7. Hillary is blowing sunshine up peoples asses while Obama is telling
hard truths. That why he is the candidate of change and Hillary is just more of the same tired and useless political BS.

8. Well said.
Unity and hope beat the hell out of division and despair, unless you happen to be on top looking down.

9. Just sent this to the Editor at MSNBC News - Hope they read it! Video of Barack's reply!
This morning on the Saturday Weekend MSNBC News with Alex Witt they had a talking head from Reurters on who lambasted Obama "bitter" comment. They did not have Obama Indiana reply that he gave last night so I sent them the link.

Here is what I sent to the letters@msnbc.com:

I think your morning weekend news should have shown Obama’s comment to the critics of his “bitter” comment.

If you didn’t know he gave this in a speech in Indiana last night.

Here is the link to the comment –

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sc9PepjyDow&feature=user

Like most of his supporters I support what he said and most of us agree that we are not going to take these sound bite assaults like this one that some in the media are taking out of context!

NOT THIS TIME!

GObama!!!!!

10. Marginalizes our concerns...indeed.
She feels our pain. She can feel the pulse of struggling America.

Does one think for even a second that it is easy to hire a scab for $100,000 and still try to barely skimp by on a measly $109 million. Some people act like thats an easy street or something? To those I would say "Get a Life"!!!! A $700,000 speech...that borderlines charity work? How many would in all actuality let a speech go at a God awful price as that? It takes a big heart to sell one at or below cost. Next thing you know we'll be expecting measly quarter of a million dollar speeches?

But lets put this in prospective, shall we. This pennance of a salary was earned. How many of us would be willing to go to Tuzla, fly in corkscrewed, sit on flack jackets and scramble across tarmacs, head down leaping into vehicles and have to relive that traumatic experience everyday CBS replays the landing. Not many of us, I'll wager. She worked hard for her money.

She is an inspiration to all Americans even if she has to make up the inspiring parts.

Now, ya'll stop it!!!!!

:sarcasm:

16. Yes this is so messed up. Let's get back to twisting and distorting
what Clinton says. How dare she respond to something Obama said. She should be defending herself.

You guys make me crack up. His stupid statement deserves this coverage NO LESS than Clinton deserved the coverage of Bosnia, the hospital, Bill's speeches.

18. yeah, it's just fine with hilary acolytes that she use
Grover Norquist's words to attack Obama. You folks think it's peachy for St Hillary to lie her ass off and tell people that Obama looks down on them. Time for Obama to smash one back at her, instead of avoiding criticizing her on Bosnia or trade or her welching on her debts and stiffing small vendors in Iowa and NH.

19. You distorted my meaning.
I said ( in large letters) that it deserves no MORE coverage than Clinton is getting on her misspeaks.

Got it? It is stupid. Yet you all CHEER AND GNAW IN FAUX outrage at anything and everything Clinton says. When the tables are turned, you are stunned. Stunned that your precious Obama is getting questioned on something he said.

it is all bullshit.
