Obama's judgment
Obama's remarks have some truth to them as do all generalities, but did he use good judgment in making them?
The answer is no, it's never smart to categorize people in a general way. You will always offend somebody.

I was listening to Cspan this morning, and Olberman last night, and read some of what the Obama DU people have to say. It's pretty much the same hand wringing arguments.
He's telling the truth for one, well no he's not, for every person that turns to religion and the second amendment, or lashes out at immigrants, there are those who accept reality and do what has to be done. Olberman's frantic search for context and for a guest that would tell him "it will be alright" was comical. Olberman is the real Steven Colbert. He's has become a parity of himself and he's acting ridiculous. The callers into Cpan were equally as funny, you of course had your Archie Bunker repubs, then the wild Obama supporters yelling into the phone with lame rationalizations for Obama's statement.

You also had Obama's response to Hillary, and her support of the bankruptcy bill, which is a lie in itself because she didn't vote for it.

Judgment is the Obama trademark, well in this case that judgment was bad.

1. I disagree...
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/04/11/clinton-mccain-respond-to_n_96318.html

The record is already being set straight, his words were taken out of context.

If Americans are not bitter about the state of their country now, they are not paying attention.

11. The entire context of Obama's words were evident ....
The circumstances and events under which Obama chose to insult steel workers, coal miners, blue collar workers, and farmers were in an environment of begging for money.

Obama sold out the heart of America hoping to pad his campaign coffers - - - that's the Chicago Way.

50. context
not only the hell with context with Hillary

The WP, Matthews, and much of the msm called her a liar when she spoke of a womans death because of her health care situation. Then when it's found Hillary spoke the truth, the story gets dropped, and they don't miss a beat and we're back in Bosnia.

she did go to bosnia, it was dangerous, and yes she did tell a war story

9. I'll take Obama's truth over your judgement
Here in NY, the middle of our state is much like the middle of PA.
It's really depressing. Industry is gone and you have people who,
for the most part, are bitter. They've been abandoned by industry,
by politicians, by culture, by the economy. Sure you could say that's
a generality but it's true. Just go there. Just go to Altoona or Scranton.
You'll see for yourself.

13. What fool does not realize the heart of America has fallen on hard times?
What Obama supporters are hoping to cover up, however, is his lies about good people in the heartland: "they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations"

    cling to guns
    cling to religion
cling to antipathy to people who aren't like them
    cling to anti-immigrant sentiment
    cling to anti-trade sentiment

How dare he!

16. Save your faux outrage
Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 07:43 AM by C_U_L8R
and don't parse words. If you're going to quote .. do it accurately.
This phony baloney Clinton word twisting is for the birds.
Your outrage is synthetic... based not on truth but on a silly desire
to create controversy where none exists. Take your triangulating
and your projecting and find another game to play. When you are not
honest with the facts, it does not help your candidate at all.
Obama didn't lie... of course he didn't. Read his words.

And you may want to stop making Hillary look like the
dishonest candidate by posting stuff like this.

I don't have to go anywhere because that is the reality of America. I live in CT and I'm a building contractor. You don't think I've been affected by these realities?
I am not huddled next to my gun with a bible in my hand, I have a large family to support. What is Obama going to do for me? I suspect about the same as the others with one exception. I like Mrs. Clinton's health care idea, and that I could use.

42. When you say "I am not huddled next to my gun with a bible in my hand"
you are projecting... and twisting the meaning, the intent and the actual words.
You know that. It's an exaggeration to further your argument.
But as we've seen, that tactic has not worked out so well for Hillary.
I think if we can all stick close to the issue without the hyperbole or parsing,
then we've got something to discuss... which through all this political fog,
is the economy, right?

I don't disagree that some people are as he described, but most are not, and as a matter of judgment I don't think it was very smart of Obama to piss off some people that will be insulted by this.

Now you want to talk about the economy, that's important, but was it more important than Bosnia lately.

15. When I first heard Obama's words I immediately thought of the words of Wright and how ...
Obama tried to excuse away the hateful words Wright preached. Then I thought of Obama's race speech where he subliminally blamed the "typical white person" for having racist tendencies.

I believe Obama's current bashing of hard-working Americans is yet another clever ploy he wanted to use to minimize the hate rants of Wright - and other associations of Obama, which could -or- could not make national media attention.

It is becoming more self-evident that in Obama's 17-year association with Wright, Obama has picked up on that "god damn america" theme quite well.

35. Well I was born in a small town

Well I was born in a small town
And I live in a small town
Probly die in a small town
Oh, those small communities

All my friends are so small town
My parents live in the same small town
My job is so small town
Provides little opportunity

Educated in a small town
Taught the fear of jesus in a small town
Used to daydream in that small town
Another boring romantic thats me

But Ive seen it all in a small town
Had myself a ball in a small town
Married an l.a. doll and brought her to this small town
Now shes small town just like me

No I cannot forget where it is that I come from
I cannot forget the people who love me
Yeah, I can be myself here in this small town
And people let me be just what I want to be

Got nothing against a big town
Still hayseed enough to say
Look whos in the big town
But my bed is in a small town
Oh, and thats good enough for me

Well I was born in a small town
And I can breathe in a small town
Gonna die in this small town
And thats probly where theyll bury me
