Its hysterical to me that Repugs and Hillary supporters are getting their panties in a bunch b/c of what Obama said about poor folks being bitter. Guess what? ITS TRUE! You don't think that when a person can't find a job they're not bitter? Horseshit!! Are we really to believe Hillary when she says that the jobless folks are happy and merry and life is perfect? I hate when politicians talk to people like they're babies, like they can't handle the truth. Its a FACT that poor whites are bitter and they are angry and that leads alot of them to take their anger out on other things, be it racism, guns, etc. Just like poor blacks are angry too because they are faced with economic hardship and that leads to gangs, violence, etc. And its the govt's fault b/c they ignore it and what happens? poor whites and blacks take it out on each other which just feeds the problem and nothing ever gets solved. What world are some of you living in????

I find it equally amusing how Obama is being labeled as elitist when McCain and Hillary are richer than him. Obama grew up with NOTHING, he worked his way up with hard work and dedication and somehow hes elitist?? Give me a fucking break.

Theres no shortage of idiots here who think this.

And yet Obama's forced to rescind his comments b/c people are fucking babies who can't take the truth. Its disturbing.

1. They are desperate to find something after Hillary had to shut her dumb husband up
for resurrecting Bosnia-gate!

What Obama said is so true it hit a nerve - even here on this board. It's actually fascinating to watch how many DUers are in denial.

5. More bitterness to come
I don't know if Obama will be able to pull off a course correction if he is elected. I hope he can, but I can remember that the echo hadn't faded from Clinton's inauguration speech when I saw the first 'Impeach Clinton' bumper sticker in 1993. The Haves and the Have-Mores do a very good job of dishing out the bitterness to the masses and keeping their anger directed at the wrong targets.

Watching Bill Moyers last night on food banks and agricultural subsidies reinforced my conviction that there is lots more bitterness in the pipeline. The U.S. is on its way to being a third world country with 90% of the people scraping to get by with no safety net, and the other 10% living well behind high walls. But what is worse, what people will never accept, is Obama telling them that.

8. elitism is an attitude not a bank account
his false sense of superiority is annoying.

If he wants to see a bitter person clinging to religion he knows where to find Rev Wright.

And Wright is not short of money.

15. There's a difference between Elite and Elitism
For all you that think Obama is a snob:

Elite vs Elitism
by Scout Finch
Sat Apr 12, 2008 at 02:17:00 PM PDT
For years now, the Republicans have tried to peg many Democrats as "elitist" and "latte-drinking liberals". Never mind that Karl Rove and the DC Republican types are addicted to Starbuck's. It's been an effective branding campaign and the end result has been for many hard-working people to turn away from the very party working for their best interests. Thomas Frank famously wrote about the success of this movement in his book, What's the Matter with Kansas?

Today, as Hillary courts working class voters in Indianapolis, she returns to the Republican theme of painting a Democratic opponent as an "elitist" and "out of touch." She harkens back to bring us tales of her grandfather working in a factory and how she lived amongst the people in Arkansas. Never mind that it has been nearly 20 years since she lived without a full security detail, let alone anywhere near "the people" or Arkansas.

10. only a dumbass would sit around and allow bitterness to take
over his/her life. I would assume a person would get up off their ass and do something about the situation. If obama is correct all these bitter people came out of the 90's and for the last 8 years still remained bitter. So, if that be the case these folks that obama talks about being bitter sat on their asses for oh say 12 plus years and did nothing except being bitter. Hey, maybe they should have gotten a few of the tapes from pastor wright and listened to him blame all of life's woes on the white man and woman. Excuse me, but the folks obama is talking about are white.

obama is doing is damn best to make the 8 years of peace and prosperity under Bill Clinton a complete hoax, because in obama's view this is where all the bitter folks came from.

12. "I would assume a person would get up off their ass and do something about the situation." . . .
easier said than done when all the cards are stacked against you . . . when your job has been outsourced, when you've lost your health insurance, when there are no other jobs available in your skill area, when your pension is probably something you'll never see, when the house you re-financed just to stay afloat is about to be lost, when you can't afford your kid's college tuition, when food and fuel prices are so high you can't afford your medications, etc., etc., etc. . .

just what do you suggest people in these kinds of circumstances do about it? . . .

16. Thats a really insensitive comment
You know millions of ppl are working hard trying to find a job and its not they're fault they can't. You honestly think the majority of these ppl don't want a job? Please! The economy is shit right now and you're blaming them for not "getting off their asses?". Real classy man.

Yeah there are red hot feelings at the moment on how bad things are going and they have to be talked about or we will see more unrest as those feelings are denied.
