The criticism of Obama regarding "anger" reminds of the republican Michigan debates |
|
when each republican candidate was asked about the economy, and they all responded with how splendidly it was doing, and how people have never been better off than before
I wasn't sure if we occupied the same planet when I heard that dribble
The auto and steel industries have been in a depression for years
The movie "Roger and Me", is as timely today as it was when it was made

1. I suspect Romney's victory |
|
in Michigan had more to do with his father being a former governor than with his delusional optimism about the economy.
Neither seems much of an excuse to vote for him but I think Republicans want what they are used to, be it a familiar name or a cheery talking point.

2. I don't know which gets to me more. |

The bitterness felt or the Clinton supporters acting like Obama should never had said that. Or maybe this is the twilight zone in another world.

While I think "Roger and Me" addressed the cyclical downturns of the Auto industry, this downturn is permanent and not cyclical at all. This time it is an everlasting change to Detroit. No seasonality this time.
Didn't Michael Moore have a follow up called, "Pets or Meat" about Flint, MI? I remember the sign the lady had in her front yard with those rabbits she was raising. That might be more apropos.
I think the only thing that can save Michigan is a brand new technology (green technology) to create jobs. While I'm looking forward to GM's Volt electric car, I'm thinking more along the lines of massive wind turbines that can power cities.
And, of course, there is Tata's car that runs on compressed air.
