22. Bitter in San Diego
Slipping out of the middle class did not happen because my fellow Mexicans took my job. I work harder than I ever have in my life, and it's corporations that cut my commissions every chance they get.

Working harder is not the solution. When did it become The American Way™ for us to work two jobs to make ends meet? That's bullshit. I'm bitter and I'm not taking it anymore. Screw Clinton. Screw McCain. I will not take four more years of this shit.

GO OBAMA!

23. Colorado - Because of Health Care
I'm worry about my friend who is about to lose his home because of a 2 night visit to the hospital that cost $30,000 and his shitty insurance will only pay $6000. I need a new brace and was just informed, my insurance won't pay for it because it's too new, and even though it will help me walk better and save my ankle from collapsing, well tough shit.

Oh and I'm bitter because my husband hasn't had a raise in 5 years, because the owner hires illegal immigrants and to complain is to lose a job. At least he has health care, but co-pays go up and up every year.

Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 12:30 PM by tokenlib
We are in recession, people are pissed, and Barack described it awkwardly--but most accurately. Some people think there votes count more on the social issues--because no one is going to do anything to change the economic realities.. And I've heard it endlessly from people here..

There is a mother-lode of discouragemnet and bitterness here.

It's nice to know we're so optimistic, hardworking, and all that crap, when the only places you can get a job are McDonalds or Wal-Mart.

"In a recession and you know it clap your hands! In a recession and you know it clap your hands!...."

43. Bitter in Missouri.
Bitter about a war that should never have been authorized or waged in Iraq. Bitter that my young granddaughter's future has been compromised by a mountain of debt, a planet in environmental crisis, further division in our own country and a prospect of constant wars....the list goes on and on.

But I am even more angry that a fellow Democrat would stoop to what the Clintons have done, when they have little to no chance of winning without subterfuge. None of the other Democratic candidates that started out in this race would have wallowed in Rovian muck the way that the Clintons have. My eyes have been opened to a sight that I thought I would NEVER see---a Democrat acting more disgusting than a Republican. Talk about condescending-- the Clintons are saying to all of us Democrats, and the rest or the country, that we can all go to hell unless they are restored to power, and anoint Queen Hillary.

Every time they pull another one of these "shenanigans" I make another donation to Obama.

This 63 years young grandma is FIRED UP AND READY TO GO!

56. Bitter in OR, and hoping for better things
For my background, I "turn a wrench" for a living and support a family of 4. In youth I always had health care, now it is beyond reach. 3 years ago I was "downsized" out of one job and could only find another paying less. My wife had to go back to work, and our combined pay is still less than my average alone over the past 15 years. All of that is ok - I know we are still lucky, on a global or historical scale.

Bitterness comes from worry over the future. I no longer expect to retire, ever. If I or my wife or kids get hurt or sick we will probably lose our house. We have to economize on food, as in not eating out, ever, and often skipping meals so the kids have enough. If as a worker I am a cog in some national economic machine, this makes me responsible in part for the uses our national capital is put to - war abroad and entertainment at home, as people like me have no choice and little voice. Perhaps Hillary would change things as well as Obama, but when Obama speaks of bitterness I know exactly what he is saying, and there are no gaps between the words and this understanding that the MSM or any opposing candidate could possibly exploit. Perhaps that is just me.
