Here's what Obama needs to do in order to neutralize his "bitter" speech in PA
Pennsylvania, per capita, has more members in the NRA than any other state. Even Texas.

Obama cannot afford to alienate gun owners in Pennsylvania, especially now that he's apologizing for that remark about Pennsylvanians "clinging" to guns or religion or xenophobia.

So here's what Obama needs to do now.

First, Obama shall repudiate his past opposition to any law-abiding Americans purchase more than one handgun per month.

Second, Obama shall repudiate his past opposition to concealed handgun laws.

Third, Obama will tout his opposition in the Senate to a bill that would have allowed police to confiscate firearms from law-abiding Americans in the event of another natural disaster such as Hurricane Katrina.

After doing all three of these, Obama will then tour every county in Pennsylvania, shake as many hands and kiss as many babies as possible, eat some good hearty meals at small family restaurants and truck stops off the beaten path, and get himself in touch with the average Pennsylvanian.

There. I just made Obama's life that much easier, provided he takes my advice.

1. Actually, I like the advice Skinner gave this morning
Can't find the link, sorry. But it basically said that Obama should plainly point out that it's been because of the policies of politicians like Hillary and McWayne that the people in Penn are having the economic problems that they are.

3. That could turn into another sniping war over the economy, though
Obama needs a way to shut Clinton down in PA, and I don't think a blanket economy message is going to get the job done.

6. Go Duck hunting?
I'm thinking Obama will come up with something amazing to counter hilary's Purple Bandaid strategy.

7. What exactly is wrong with "clinging" to guns? Or anything?
When your clinging to one of those issues, your voting on that alone, because of bitterness in getting anywhere with a candidate, because of trust. From the first Clinton's health care promise, to the economy with Bus@, what good did the candidate do? If you don't feel bitter then you have a bank account of $100 million like the Clinton's.

8. In other words, pander his ass off

Great advice, Bob Shrum. Want him to go duck hunting, too? He should put on a flag pin while he is at it. Maybe two. Thank goodness Obama isn't taking the outdated advice of political dinosaurs, stuck in the politics of the past.

10. The Democratic Party, at its grassroots, is starting to embrace the Second Amendment more
Thinking persons know that taking on the Second Amendment is a losing strategy - it cost the Democratic Party control of Congress in 1994, and it cost both Gore and Kerry the White House. If Gore had not alienated gun owners in Tennessee, then the whole fracas in Florida wouldn't have amounted to anything.
