Flashback: Axelrod and Obama: Edwards is too angry (December, 2007)
Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 05:01 PM by fighterdem5
Politicians should be be consistent in their views, lest their original, contradictory positions come back to haunt them.

Back in December, 2007, Washington Post's E. J. Dionne quoted Obama's campaign chief David Axelrod criticising John Edwards' approach, which by this time had been unanimously labeled by the media as "angry". Axelrod said Edwards' approach was "Storm the Bastille" approach, alluding the the angry mobs who got sick of the abuses by their King before the French Revolution:

The Washington Post's E.J. Dionne reported:

"The Edwards campaign is 'Storm the Bastille,' " said Axelrod in a colorful description of the former senator's fierce attacks on drug companies, oil companies and all others who would stand in the way of reform. This is appealing to the many Democrats who are in a fighting mood.

Obama didn't lag behind and took a shot as Edwards too:

Clearly but obliquely referring to Edwards, Obama preached that anger won't cut it, either. "There's no shortage of anger and bluster and bitter partisanship out there," he said. "We can change the electoral math that's been all about division and make it about addition.

What bothers me is that these politicians say things according to the time of year, and shameless switch gears to suit their needs.
4 months after ripping Edwards, Obama sounds even "angrier" than the former.
There is little honesty left in our political discourse.

6. What bothers me are people that only make Black/White analysis......
and believes that we are unable to feel more than one emotion at a time. I believe that a politicians who acknowledges both the anger and pain of the current situation, and can point to hope and inspiration of the future is a fully dimensional candidate.

One can fight and hope all at the same time.

8. I don't think we've seen Obama angry,
even if the face of NAFTA lies, "shame on you", Obama is a Muslim, "he's only a speaker with no experience" , "the sky will open up", "I dodged sniper fire", etc.
Much to his credit, I'd have to say he has remained calm and cool under pressure--very presidential....
