OFF the fence: HEY Hillary and McSame - Obama’s RIGHT - People are Bitter, and PISSED!
And while Barack Obama has his finger on the pulse of America - YOU both have your fingers in your ears!

Isn’t it ODD that the ones most “offended” by Senator Obama’s remarks are NOT the middle-class working people he was referring to in his ‘bitter’ remarks - but the two of YOU and your media minions.

Barack Obama speaks for us - he KNOWS what’s going on with working people - and YOU attack him for it - all screeching and flapping with your self-interested, hideously oblivious, deaf ears and oh-so-interesting twists of logic and fact.

BOTH OF YOU are part of the problem. We need SOLUTIONS. And in order for a President to provide SOLUTIONS to our problems he first has to LISTEN.

And that’s something NEITHER of you know how to do, or aren’t interested in - obviously. You seem more interested in twisting the words of a political opponent into an attack weapon -- than listening to the very people you claim to want to represent in this country.

HA! ACTIONS speak louder than words. And YOUR actions, Hillary and McSame - have just spoken volumes to me.

To HELL with both of you.

MY vote goes to Barack Obama. The man whose ears are open. The man who, when his mouth is open it is more often talking about solutions to the problems we working Americans face every day — instead of twisting his opponent’s words into something they never meant to be and using them to attack.

The man who obviously has his finger on the PULSE of the working people. The guy with his ears open, and his mind working on the solutions to our problems rather than twisting someone else's words and their meaning in order to gain political advantage, and the guy with his PRIORITIES in proper order.

SO - when the two of you chose to make an issue out of Obama’s ‘bitter’ comments in reference to working Americans - you LOST this working American’s vote - you pushed THIS working American OFF the fence. Because YOU aren't listening! OBAMA is.

And that's enough for me.

Good going.

Idiots.

I'm voting Obama.

35. Obama is rather cozy with corporations himself
However, his very successful organizing is a big counterweight to that, since he is bringing so many more people into active citizenship.

80. Right. Kucinich and Edwards
We haven't gotten to the point of being able to do an end run around that, but Obama at least is spending his money wisely, building a base for future activists who hopefully will go beyond what he is able to openly advocate now.

5. Agreed - now, it's the turn of the SDs to get off the fence!
If Hillary cannot speak with or about her CONGRESSIONAL COLLEAGUE (and supposed FRIEND) in a respectful manner, what makes anyone think she would be respectful to us and mindful of our needs?!

I've been pissed at her for a long time, but now I'm ready to spit (words, if nothing else). I simply cannot understand how anyone could still imagine that she would make the kind of President that we would be proud to own up to.

Someone who knows how to do these should revive the "Have you had enough?" videos, but with Hillary and McCain.

Here's a sample (back when casualities in Iraq were "only" 2600 (sigh...):

6. Thank you for this topic!!
Of course it will likely be buried as Clinton supporters try to twist Obama's comments into whatever controversy they can make.

However I do thank you because you know. People that have spent decades being angry that the .gov continues to screw them over are getting screwed yet again when people tell them. No you are not!

You and the others who have chosen to stand up are letting America know that there is nothing wrong with being displeased with a government that has other interests than the people in mind.

Endless war
Tax breaks for the rich
etc...

Early Adults can be sent to war yet they can't be bitter that the war they are being sent to is wrong? That it ruins equipment needed for defense and ruins the minds and spirit of many thousands of returning vets?

In my view Clinton and McCain are double teaming against people who intend to speak up about the government if they get elected. To tell people they are happy to keep them from getting going in their local communities to bring change. They want the people to return to their Xbox video games and American idol after the election in my view.

Well the answer is no Clinton and McCain. When Obama is elected we are going to continue to be bitter with the .gov and continue to work to change it for the better. To vote and be active in our local communities, To express our views on bills in congress being considered. To voice our anger if a good bill is vetoed and bad bills are signed in. Etc..

Clinton is not going to be able to spin this to harm Obama! It is bringing out the support for him and Clinton is going to LOSE support over this. Yet they keep trying.

Again thank you for your topic!

19. There was nothing wrong with what he said. It was deliberately twisted around...
...in order to use against him. I've listened to it at least 5 times. Nothing wrong with it. I understood it completely.

I also understand when someone twists your own words around to use them against you. Abusers in families and intimate relationships often do that to the person they're abusing.

The same tactics are used (and too often work) in politics. I see them every day.

I've noticed over the past couple months that Obama has - on numerous occasions - spoken to the very essence of the issues we face - and to the nuances surrounding each one. He GETS it. And that is one of his strongest points. So naturally, that is where his opponents look to attack him and to reduce him - right there. And that is again a tactic abusers use in their personal relationships - find a person's strongest points and tear them down at that location in order to destroy them and break their spirit.

And that works in politics too, and is used quite often.

The problem is, Obama's opponents are more focused on that than on addressing the humongous issues we people face in this country. Their priorities are sorry-assed, self-centered, narcissistic bullshit.

In order for a President to address the nation's problems, (s)he has to first know what they are.
To know what they are, (s)he first has to LISTEN to people.
THEN (s)he can work on solving the problems the people are facing every day.

Who's listening? Barack Obama is listening. The rest are just sitting around obliviously preening themselves and attacking Obama. If they HAD any clues they wouldn't know what to do with them.

21. Abusers also try to tell you how you feel
or invalidate your real emotions.

We are angry. Bitter is a nice word for pissed and for anyone to tell us we're not, to try to invalidate those feelings, is indicative of an abusive relationship.

We need to walk out now. Take the kids and the essentials and leave. That's what I'm seeing.

If Hillary and McSame can't SEE that people are peeved/bitter/pissed (whatever you want to call it) then they are living in a world all their own (like most abusers are). They certainly aren't living in ours.

The working class people get it. If, indeed, Americans are the hardest workers on the planet, that is not really something to be proud of. Give us a taste of the European lifestyle. Hard work combined with a solid social safety net for those who happen to fall on hard times.

I'm sick of the "so?" attitude. Cheney, McSame, Clinton... they are the ones out of touch.

50. You're almost right. I've never seen one like Obama's before.
Oh, sure, I've seen faux outrage time and time again. To me, this stuff is almost identical to Kerry's "botched joke" episode. His words were twisted and used against him. Everybody knew what he meant, but they shrieked and screamed and clawed and pretended. In fact, if I recall correctly, wasn't Hillary like one of the only democrats to join the chorus of convenient outrage toward John Kerry? Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

But here's what Hillary and McCain are completely failing to see: They're demonstrating the exact old bullshit Obama has spoken out against time and time again. All he needs to do to deflect this is say "You know when I talk about the politics of division? This is it." They could not have played this any wronger.

...and just what IS the deal with Hillary getting into political bed with McSame and the GOP (REPUBLICANS) against Obama? :wtf:

Does that woman have NO shame? Just WHAT LEVELS she’ll stoop to…Well, let’s just say - I don’t want someone who’ll do THAT to be President - to be President. It’s sad. It’s self-serving. Disgusting. Shameless. It's REPUBLICAN. And it's really LOW.

And frankly, I’ve *SEEN* ENOUGH of that type of politics from the GOP and the bu$h administration for the past 7-8 years (at least). And NOW - to see a Democratic presidential candidate subscribing to the SAME (against one of our OWN no less) is more than I'm willing to tolerate.

So THAT is another reason my vote goes to Obama.

Have a nice day.

65. Yes indeed. We ALL have seen political campaigns before.
And most of us are tired of the same old campaigns being waged. What you don't seem to see is that Obama is running a different campaign, one in which he is telling the truth. Americans are sick and tired of being played for fools and being treated like children. Obama is talking to us like adults and is addressing problems head on, rather than offering cheap soundbites and platitudes to the masses. McCain and Clinton are playing the same old tired campaign themes and we are sick and tired of it. Obama is the only one grounded in reality and addressing the real issues facing America.

59. Have you ever noticed that our Democrats have often felt...
...the need to apologize for something they should never HAVE to apologize for - because their words had been twisted around and taken out of context by by Repugs - and the subsequent media flap from that?

That is why Obama felt the need to apologize. It has happened often.

Only THIS time it wasn't ONLY a Repug doing this to a Democrat - it was also Hillary Clinton doing it to a fellow Democrat in order to smear him and to "win" the election. Which TELLS ME now, what I need to know about her both as a candidate and a potential president - and that is that I don't want someone who would stoop to those levels to be President. I've had ENOUGH of that type of politics thankyouverymuch.

It's time for CHANGE and what I see from the Clinton campaign is the same as what I've seen from the GOP for too many years - heck, she's gotten down into the mud with them for the sole purpose of flinging it at Obama.

It's really disappointing. Sad. And Desperate. She may in fact "win", but meanwhile, I won't support her tactics of doing so. Enough is enough.

61. Right on. I am tired of people slamming the truth and calling it
negativity.
It may not have been as "artfully phrased" as it could have been, but the context and the comment were dead on.

62. I think Obama hit a Clinton 'nerve' and that's the problem...
Edited on Sun Apr-13-08 10:57 AM by Triana
...People in the US aren't feeling particularly financially or economically secure right now and that is due at least in part to programs that the Clintons have supported (NAFTA, anyone? China free trade?) - and it has caused them to lose jobs and to become - yes - BITTER about that. Youbetcha.

People often 'cling' to something during desperate times in their lives: when someone (or themselves) is dying, they cling to God or their faith moreso than at any other time, for instance. THAT is what Obama was referring to. People need an anchor - something to hold on to. He's RIGHT.

Anyway, I just think he got too close to the truth behind the status quo to suit Clinton/GOP -- and that is why they chose those particular comments to twist into something unrecognizable to those of us who actually HEARD what Obama said - and to subsequently make issue of it.

To put it simply, Obama threatened to upset the status quo by stating the truth.

Uh-oh. And that is just what I, for one, want him to do - upset the status quo.

74. It's the 'new' political correctness
The right wing variety: Don't dare imply that voters wish for anything other than the status quo. To do so is "un-American". "America, love it or leave it" -- alive and well, thanks to far-right talking heads and their newly adopted sidekick Hillary Clinton.

69. Bitter? Just do the math
If you make $10 an hour, which is pretty good for a lot of folks, you would have to work your entire adult life just to gross the $800,000 that Bill Clinton got for speaking in favor of a trade agreement his wife says she opposes.

And they call other people elitist?

72. Shillary succumbs to "Gotcha" politics
Issues no longer matter. It's about whatever sound byte can be re-directed at your opponent to maximize damage. Lee Atwater originated this strategy, Karl Rove perfected it, and now Clinton is using it against a fellow Democrat. She is providing the GOP attack machine with more negative ad material than they can ever hope to use. What a farce -- the old adage about "percetion equals reality" must be alive and well, because there's very little in the way of reality left, only (mostly false) perceptions.
