1. What do you hope to gain by posting this?
Obama supporters know all this stuff, and Clinton supporters blow it off. No thoughtful discussions will result, and just the same old tired jabs back and forth will ensue.

Nobody's mind will be changed.

3. Sticking our heads in the sand about the Clintons will not serve us.
Just as certainly as the Clintons will not serve us.

I have certainly been disabused of my feelings about the Clintons. To think of all those years I spent defending them just kind of turns my stomach.

10. We're not sticking our heads on the sand - we're
just already aware of all this stuff. And more stuff keeps coming every day. We've argued about it all with Clinton supporters endlessly.

We're not going to change any of their minds.

I'm ALMOST reminded of a guy I worked with who was a new convert to Catholicism. One night we both had to work late and I found reams of material on the printer "proving" that the Mormons were a cult. I wondered -- was he trying to convince himself he'd made the right decision? If he had a deep knowing and belief he was right, why worry about another religion -- especially a religion that wasn't a threat to his new one.

I believe the majority of Obama supporters KNOW we've made the right choice, and have seen HRC's true colors.

I just don't see where posts like this accomplish anything, other than open a new battlefield between Clinton and Obama supporters. Our efforts and energy can be better directed elsewhere, that's all.

Why post anything at all?

11. How about posting discussions on how we can help our candidate
Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 06:44 PM by gateley
make sure we pulverize McCain in November? Something along those lines.

EDIT: -- Or, even though it's nearly impossible lately, having serious discussions about the differences in their platforms? I've learned a LOT from DU and would love to see more stuff like that.

Look, when HRC does some dumb ass thing like 'bittergate' - I'm all for calling her on it -- that's total bullshit.

You know, never mind. I probably should have thought before I posted. Peace.

17. I'm just fed up with the pandering, the disingenuousness
I particularly was very put off by HRC's speech on MLK last week, and felt that she was disingenuous in her comments. She panders to the closeted racists on the one hand with the "He can't win because he's black and he's got a 'racist' preacher!" thing with the superdelegates, then, on the other hand, she panders to AA and populists with her tearful, forced-emotion speech about MLK's message and untimely death, all the while disregarding that Wright's messages are more in keeping with MLK's messages from the past. I haven't posted in a while, and hadn't checked in on DU for some time. Then I come here today and it's 1,000 some odd 'bitter' posts. I'm bitter. I'm tired. Call me frustrated.

I hear ya, but, I needed to express my frustration on this subject with a chronicling of HRC's pandering, for the record, so to speak.

19. I'm so fed up with it it makes my blood boil --
I swear to God. But my point was all looking at stuff like that does is make my blood boil MORE - it accomplishes nothing. And I'm tired, too - weary of it all -- which is why I responded that way. I just didn't have the energy today to get into it - but sometimes I do!

And the glee with which Clinton supporters proclaim that an ABSOLUTELY ACCURATE remark that Obama made will be his downfall, sends me over the edge. I've bypassed most of those threads because I feel suffocated by the closed-mindedness. It's like listening to a try to explain the "truth".

The bottom line is, we're not going to change their minds, they're not going to change ours. All it does is drive us further apart.

But I truly understand your frustration and share it.

I'm sorry if my post came across as judgmental -- it really wasn't intended to be.

"I've bypassed most of those threads because I feel suffocated by the closed-mindedness..."

~~ I think a lot of us are feeling this way. It's why I rarely respond any more. Hang in there.

12. Obama pandering
Pandering to San Francisco liberals, hoping his words wouldn't be heard by Pennsylvanians.
Pandering to Republicans smooching Reagan's legacy.
Pandering to pro-gun voters, before "bittergate", when he knew he was being video-taped or audio-taped.
