As an Obama supporter, I am afraid the Hillary supporters will make McCain the next Prez.
I am very fearful of the comments and posts here, accusing Obama of being everything from a drug dealer to a Black Separatists, an Anti-Semite, a "car thief": there seems to be no end to the baseless negative accusations hurled at Barack Obama. If one were to believe ANY of them, (never proved true, but hurled daily here), one would never knowledgeably vote for the man in the General Election!

The alternative? FOUR MORE YEARS of Bush.... now in the person of John McCain, who has changed virtually every position on every issue in order to be the Republican nominee.

Where are the people who oppose Bush/McCain more than they oppose Obama? Seems like only Obama supporter oppose Bush/McCain now.. and Hillary supporters claim that Obama is the ultimate misogynist for opposing her claim to be President, just because she's the only woman to dare to run this year, and her husband was kind of a good administrator, despite his personal flaws. Feminists defend Hillary as the rightful heir to the Presidential throne, despite her husband's overt, and DNA documented sexual proclivities while in the office of the President of the United States. Feminists here find it easy to "excuse" Bill, given the great economy of the second part of the 90's.

Yeah, OK, now we have a person who out-and-out LIES several times in her campaign, gets less votes from the people of the USA, less money, less pledged delegates, and somehow she's still supposed to be nominated to be the Dem final candidate? This despite her campaign blunders? Despite her husband's mis-steps? Despite her lackluster seven year Senate record? We are supposed to select HER, when all polls and elections show she has less votes in the Primaries and Caucuses? OK!

Now, here's a little lesson in politics, which was true until Florida had a stupid ballot in 2000,

the person with the most votes wins elections! So our candidate for the general election will be Barack Obama, something Hillary supporters seem intent upon destroying here.

Now WHY are so many Democrats here on this forum trying to elect John McSame in November by destroying Obama?

I await your answers.

So you will support McSame against Obama?

Is THAT what you are saying?

Let's face it, America is not perfect, elect John McSame and make it less perfect, or elect a man who calls it like it is, and is willing to stand up for those who lose their union jobs 10 years ago and still feel bitter.

But the Obama-hate campaign here on the DU is amazing.

People claim he's an anti-semite, a racist, too young, too black, too white, too outspoken, too silent.

I really worry about this type of Democrat posting on here, the ones that confirm McSame will be the next Prez, because they hate someone who challenged Hillary to be better. The shame is that Hillary could have arisen to the challenge, but she didn't, nor did her supporters.

54. Yah, but..
She is taking this "bitter" word waaaaaaay out of context. And it is not just this time. Their is a reason Obama supporters are pissed. She puts McCain above Obama, she lies, and even though her own campaign admits she has a 10% chance (actually it is 5%) she is doing her damnedest to destroy Obama. And in a way that he will not be able to recover for the general election. She is taking his words out of context and is clearly trying to make something of him that he isnt. There is no excuse for her.

If Obama comes out of this unelectable does it really matter how Obama supporters have acted? At least some can say we tried to stop her. Raise enough hell and people will listen. We need to walk the streets like in the MLK days.

You can sit back and pat yourself on the back for "taking the high road" but she isnt going to win the nomination. And if she causes him to lose the gen election just so she can stay in for what ever sick ass reason, then well.... I'll stop there.

24. It's really "ARROGANT" to speak the truth
about some Americans

I really think this is about race, not about issues. Obama is the ONLY candidate to talk about the real issues in America, Hillary is selling us a fantasy.......McCain, just doesn't get it.......a wonderful hero, but no leader.

If you support Obama, for real, you will try to understand the context, to full speeches, not the sound clips.

If you are NOT an Obama supporter, perhaps you have the integrity to admit that on an anonymous forum. Otherwise, you made no point, and just made yourself look silly.

Sen. Obama is a wonderful man, who does speak much truth. He would never say something like:

"... Hillary supporters claim that Obama is the ultimate misogynist for opposing her claim to be President, "

Obama is great and full of class. My only wish is that we would all follow his example.

It seems to me, here at least, that some posters are way opposed to Hillary Clinton, and that reflects on the Clinton supporters who turn angry. Is this linked in some ways to the factions within the dem party with the Clintonians/DLC versus the more leftist ones ?

32. Very good questions!
I have a feeling that 99% of Obama supporters will vote for Clinton is she were the nominee.

I DO NOT have the same feeling about Hillary supporters voting for Obama. And I see such hateful racist, baseless posts here, day after day, about Obama as an Anti-Semite, Obama as a racist, Obama as a misogynist, Obama as "elite", Obama as too black, too white, too inexperienced, too hateful, too forgiving, too naive, too sophisticated.

AMAZING how many excuses Americans can come up with for not supporting the Democratic Party's front-runner.

Karl Rove must be singing and dancing about how this is going. Democrats destroy their own party with their own racist, misogynistic prejudices.

Obama, if elected, will be the end of all these petty schisms, if he's not, and we are faced with McSame for four more years, we have only Hillary supporters to blame.

In the interview, Obama was asked whether he would apologize to small-town Americans who were offended by his quote in San Francisco.

Obama said: "Well look, if there - obviously, if I worded things in a way that made people offended, I deeply regret that.

30. I would ask you to consider, just consider, that this cuts both ways.
It gives me chills from both sides. There are supporters on both sides that continue to express the same baseless, negative accusations at the other candidate. There are those on both sides that repeatedly state that they will not EVER vote for the other candidate.

There are some on both sides who appear to hate the other democratic candidate more than they hate McCain and his platform. This terrifies me and will be, in the end, our weakest link.

I don't think these people are capable of seeing what they are doing. They see everything on their side as right and everything on the other as wrong.

Now WHY are so many Democrats here on this forum trying to elect John McCain in November by destroying the other democratic nominee?

Please spare me the math arguments. Clinton has the right to continue in this race as long as she wants and members of the democratic party on this board have the right to support her. It is not the candidates that are destroying this party, it is some of their supporters on both sides.

Thanks for your very civil reply.

I struggle with the question. I think that many truly believe that their candidate is the only one that can really win the GE and are truly fearful of another loss. I don't think this country can withstand another Republican administration, particularly a McCain administration. I remain hopeful that either of our candidates can beat McCain, but I am only able to do this because I recognize that DU does not truly represent the populace - thank god.

33. I have NEVER heard barack referred to as either a "drug dealer or "car thief" on DU. That is just
hyperbole to inflame. President Clinton did make a "joke " about that barack will next say he "isn't a car their" because it is obvious he isn't.
As far as his being a "black separatist" there is some evidence he at least explored inclinations in that direction. he himself refers to it in "dreams from my father". The speculation on his being an anti _semite arises from his relationship with Luis Farrakhan, who is an anti -semite. Barack has a history with him. I do not believe he is an anti semite but he does hang with questionable associates in regard to this.

It seems as though you think no questions should be asked about Obama. It is not just the Hillary supporters, but all voters can and should be asking questions about ALL the candidates. I see no reason fort Barack to be sancropect. If these questions didn't come up in the Democratic primary, they were going to come up in the GE if Barack gets the nomination.None of these things can be hidden.Nor should they be, anymore than anything about Mccain or Hillary.
For us as Democrats, it is really better that this come out NOW. It is much better than being surprised with it in the GE. It is possible that by emerging early, we can deal with this an move on , no matter who is the nominee. We really don't want some of this happening in November.

If Barack Obama is meant to win in November, he will win. If he loses, it will not be the fault of the Hillary campaign , or what anyone else has said. It will be the fault of his campaign and how they deal with missteps. because that isn't the object of this post). Just as it would be for any other candidate.(For the sake of argument, I am NOT going to factor election fraud into this equation

because of idiots who have dehumanized and vilified an outstanding Senator, such that it is ok to call her vile names and attack her constantly with such hate and ugliness that it makes one angry.

She is angry, if she is anything like me, for the fact that DU was a safe haven where we could find the truth. It has been inflitrated by Obama attack-supporters who do not care if Clinton is a democrat (or a human for that matter), they spew vile ugliness at her and anyone who supports her.

It's like the Civil War. Except nobody's dying. Even they took a break to throw snowballs at each other. True story.

52. Only if they refuse to vote for Obama, It's simple math!
If the Hillary supporters give up their silly prejudices and mark the ballot for Obama in November, it's NOT THEIR FAULT.

But if they hang on to these silly myths about Obama not representing them, and refuse to vote, who else do you blame?

Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 09:06 PM by JayFredMuggs
You have closed your ears. You will NOT vote for Obama in November, or you are just here to get attention.

If you don't vote for Obama in November, you have no one to blame but yourself if McSame gets elected. You can't blame a brilliant man like Obama for your not voting for him, you have only YOURSELF to blame.

Listen to this............if you dare

65. No dilemma for loyal dems?
So, assume HC manages to help the Republicans define Obama as elitist, unpatriotic, weak on defense, inexperienced, surrenderer, ultraliberal, the black candidate, sexist, etc., and he becomes totally unelectable. Then why shouldn't a loyal Democrat who wants to win in 08 ((especially superdelegates) vote for HC? She will then be the strongest Democratic candidate. Politics is a tough business, and if you can't take the kneecapping, get out of the skating rink, right?
