Damn -- they are hitting this heavy. Robocall from one mayor, email from another
First the robocall from the mayor of York and now a blast email from the mayor of Braddock sent by the campaign.

I am embarrassed to say, but I have no idea where Braddock is.

<name redacted> --

My name is John Fetterman, and I'm the Mayor of Braddock, Pennsylvania.

A few days ago, Barack Obama spoke about our economy and about the frustration that folks across our state are feeling.

Now -- instead of actually addressing the challenges facing our communities -- Barack's opponents are taking these comments out of context to score political points.

This is exactly the kind of Washington politics that you and I want to stop.

Across Pennsylvania, in towns and small cities like mine, people are signing on to a letter to show their support for Barack and to say they're frustrated with politicians putting Wall Street before Main Street.

Check out the video of Barack's response about the economy and what people are feeling -- and sign on to the letter now:

http://pa.barackobama.com/PAletter

In my town, Braddock, we have been hurt by job loss and economic downturn for decades. Barack is right on, and he understands how we feel. We need a leader who will fight for us, not the special interests.

As Mayor, I enthusiastically endorsed Barack Obama because he understands the needs of communities like mine -- and has the strength and vision to offer real solutions.

Please forward this message to your family, friends, and neighbors and tell them you know that Barack is the one candidate who will fight for our working families and bring about the change this country needs.

Thank you,

Mayor John Fetterman
Braddock, Pennsylvania

1. This is what you call "real" grassroots activism
Man, I wish I was there in PA to get one of those calls.

29. Unless it's a hoax. Usually an official letter made public precedes this type of action..
I googled here... and the only reference to this action is another post by Prosense..

Sort of odd for a politician...

12. Thanks!
I recently re-registered as a Democrat, so I haven't had a robocall in years. I'd love to have that last one.

Funny being a part of this whole fiasco for a change (although I have only been in PA for 5-ish years)

because al gore never said he "invented " the internet
And John Kerry was an honorable Soldier, a brilliant man and would have made a great president.

Because Al Gore debated a buffooon and all we heard about was lockbox and how many times he sighed.

Because Dean screamed and they made it matter.

the media has a history of damaging threatening people and they can because they control the message. He may deliver the most amazing "counterpunch" (he has definitely) but if no one hears it then has he defended himself?

I fear the media machine and the manufacturing of scandals. We still hear about REv Wright and was that even anything?

PS I'm a shicksa and I knew Seders are next week. :P :D

Edwards was a far better candidate

How many dems in the past 40 yrs have been from the south and won the presidency? They don't make such stupid statements.

10. Well, Obama's campaign SUCKS for not having him release a slam that would get airplay
Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 09:45 PM by cryingshame
I am fucking sick and tired of the milquetoast crap.

Why isn't Obama slamming Hillary and getting airplay?

He could question why she apparently is ignorant about what Wedge Issues are & how the GOP uses them. Why not SAY THAT and get airplay?

18. What's to hear tonight? I'm listening to ClintonNN, and they
try to be 'balanced' but they aren't imo. What other news can anyone listen to tonight? Maybe Obama is saying what we need to hear and no one's reporting it. That wouldn't surprise me at all.

And then there's SNL; who knows?

Thus I feel that I could sign his petition and leave a note.

If handled correctly, Obama can turn a lemon into a winning barrel of lemonade.

20. They are going to get this turned around on them big time
Barack and the American Peoples' counterattack is going to be deadly.

John McCain probably should have stayed out of it, because now he will lose in a landslide I'm afraid.

That's the one area Barack was struggling in, according to polls. Not anymore, because Barack validated their feelings.
Finally a politician who gets it!

It's one of the poorest towns in the state, has a child poverty rate of 54%, and has lost 90% of its population since the 1950s. (wikipedia)
