psst! Obama IS ELITE...then again, so is Hillary, by definition - |
|
"A group or class of persons or a member of such a group or class, enjoying superior intellectual, social, or economic status"
alternatively, the best of a group, such as the best player on the team, the highest average gpa's for a school, etc.
to say that Obama is not an elite is inaccurate, just as inaccurate as to say Hillary is not elite.
both are washington insiders, an elite club.
both are senators, a super elite club.
both are authors with best seller published books. now that's an elite club if there ever was one.
and of course BOTH vote to support and fund the iraqi occupation, which makes them an elite among the subset elite group, congresspersons.

1. Clinton didn't say he was an "elite", she said he was an "elitist"... |
|
elitist - "The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources."

EVERY President or Presidential candidate has ALWAYS been ELITE!
I know I've heard this accusation made against mostly Dems for a long time. It never quite made sense to me. If they are ALL members of the elite class, then the populace has no choice but to elect a member of the elite class, so how can one candidate make that charge against an opponent?
I admit I haven't looked it up, but I THINK the usual definition of "elitist" is one who believes he/she is superior to everyone else and doesn't understand the average American. Well, my guess is that tTHAT label fits all candidates for President, at least in the last 40 years!
Name me ONE who really understands what it's like to have to make a grocery list and stick to it because that's all the $$ they have to spend.
Name me ONE who has had to worry how they will find the $$ to put gas in the car to get to work till payday.
Name me ONE who has to juggle which payment is going to harm their credit more when it's late.
You get the picture. The last one I can remember that MIGHT have really understood was Truman. He was NOT a rich man, but I don't think even HE had to worry about feeding his family the next week.
