Tone-deaf Hillary (again)

She's travelled all around PA, and all she has seen "in her experience" is happy and optimistic people?

Wow.

She needs to come to my town.

Can someone REALLY be that tone-deaf to electorate?

Sadly, I guess so.....

1. She's been in Washington long enough
to be able to hear nothing and see nothing of the people's problems. The only problems she can see and hear are the ones corporations tell her about.

2. How does her comment
make people who are going through hard times, hurting, bitter -- FEEL? Like they're slackers? Like they don't have a right to be bitter?
How utterly unfeeling and insensitive.

7. yeah I know...unreal
People turn to religion because they can count on it, can't count on Washington.

People turn to guns, in order to hunt, to feed their families because groceries are so damn high.

Yeah she didn't notice that either!

13. Or she thinks it an insult to say that they do.
Obama did say that they "cling" to religion and guns, implying their dependence or something like that. I still don't quite get why it was "demeaning" to make these observations.

4. Instead of concentrating on what's important, she's concentrating
on her opponent, again, to her detriment. It's sadly obvious.

6. Exactly
When will she actually campaign on the issues and stop reacting to Obama or attacking him?

She does it to herself.

11. Why is calling someone "bitter" an insult? It's what we are here in PA.....

Calling me "bitter" is like calling me "awake".

Our government has fucked us over for decades. Damn right I'm bitter.

15. Yes, because there is no distinguishing features between a Bush and a Clinton
administration.

Let me grab the punchline for you -- "While it takes a Clinton to clean up after a Bush, it takes a dry cleaner to clean up after a Clinton".

And only a real idiot believes there are huge differences, policy-wise, between Obama and Clinton.

20. It isn't about the policy differences
Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 11:18 PM by Yael
it is all in how they plan to enact them.

I am a populist at heart, but the iron fist isn't at play right now.

I trust Senator Obama to lead and believe he has coattais that are just a vision in the Clinton Camp, Elton John notwith standing.

21. Obama may have chosed better words for his point, however Hillary's response was downright goofy!
As to being condescending....if Obama's comment was condescending, how about Hillary's? Implying that they are all happy as a lark, oblivious to the bitterness that many citizens actually have towards their government. Here was Hillary's chance to recognize how citizens want better solutions to the nation's problems, and show what she will do to solve them....such as getting health care. Instead, she chose to basically imply that recognizing people's bitterness is somehow a mistake!

Americans are bitter about a failed war in Iraq. They are bitter about getting into the war on the basis of lies. They are bitter about how poorly the war was executed and wound up in a guagmire. They are bitter how much the war cost in lives and dollars and effect on our economy.

They are bitter about higher gas prices. They are bitter about an economy teetering on the brink of recession or worse. They are insecure about their jobs, and many have lost them to Mexico and other foreign countries. They are bitter about NAFTA, people without health benefits, schools that are poorly funded and seeing their children's education being left behind on the altar of standardized test worship.

They don't trust their government. Politician is a bad word. They have been lied to by their government and politicians and seen corruption and hypocrisy time and time again.

Clinton is apparently oblivious to this and praises the citizens for being positive and good sports for not complaining. Obama, on the other hand, has a message that government should be responsive to the people, that real change must happen, that we must open up government, and make it really the servant of the people.

Obama is frustrated by the cyncicism of some Americans. Hillary tries to pretend it does not exist.

Wouldn't it have been refreshing for Hillary to attack McCain for his candy-ass response to Obama, rip him a few good ones....then proceed to talk about how she can reach out to these people with policies better than Obama can? That would be so frigging easy an arguement, but her million dollar advisors just tell her, apparently, to go after Obama even if agreeing with McCain only gives McCain more credibility in the process. Hillary's tactics are stupid. It is what we get when we have an amateur politician in over her head and blinded by a hatred of her opponent.
