"Annie Get Your Gun" Clinton calls for Renewal of Assault Weapon Ban |
|
Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 11:23 PM by RamboLiberal
Clinton also renewed her call for reinstating the assault weapons ban, which expired in 2004. http://www.philly.com/philly/wires/ap/news/nation/elections/presidential/17543469.htmlThis was from this week! McCain and NRA will hammer her over this! It was a stupid, stupid, law that did nothing but ban cosmetic features on rifles and shotguns.

Now if Obama can just keep quiet until after the SCOTUS ruling in June, then say it's an isue for the states, he can win.

I'm a city girl who's never fired a gun and never plan to, and even I know there's a difference between a hunting rifle and an assault weapon. Let the hunters hunt, and ban the guns used for nothing but mowing down humans. Works for me.

I'm not sure if guns are that useful for defending yourself unless you sleep with them under your pillow.

8. The idea of hunting for sport makes me squeamish |
|
but I have no problem with hunting for food. I eat meat, so who am I to say that the way I get my meat is okay, and the way somebody else gets theirs is not okay? I've never been in a position where I had to kill my food myself, and I hope I never am, but I certainly don't judge those who are. Nor do I live in a place where wild animals are a threat. If there was any chance at all of me finding a rattlesnake on my back porch, you'd better believe I'd have a gun, and learn how to use it. As for guns inside city limits, that's a completely different subject. I wish there was a way to ban them entirely in a way that was workable.

7. There's no such thing as an 'assault weapon' |
|
it's political terminology designed to make certain weapons sound more scary. There is such a thing as an assault RIFLE, and such weapons are already banned under the National Firearms Act of 1934 which outlawed the possession of fully-automatic weapons by private citizens.
