Also CNN's John King asked if this has derailed Obama's campaign just an hour or so ago.

Who's chicken little now?

5. Obama is finished
Edited on Sun Apr-13-08 12:33 AM by Tropics_Dude83
I'm disgusted with him and I feel duped that I ever supported him. I'm switching my support to Hillary Clinton now, someone who is oh I don't know "electable."

And let there be no doubt I supported Obama until the plagiarism story shook me a little, then Wright shook me to my very core but I still stood by him-(Check out some of my posts after he survived-Obama will be the next president now) but now he throws this in my face?

Also, look at my posts from way back in January "Bill Clinton: Unprecedented bad behavior for a former president." My post history proves my Obama support.

That said, I'm horrfied and turned off. He has lost my support. I'm tired of scandal after scandal. Mistep after mistep.

Obama 101: How to turn an early strong supporter into someone who opposes you.

9. That started the ball rolling
Edited on Sun Apr-13-08 12:38 AM by Tropics_Dude83
I am SO angry with him right now. For doing his best to blow a chance to really throw the Washington establishment out on it's ear. To lead a movement inspired by young people. To have a people-powered campaign. To have someone who actually opposed Iraq from the start in the W.H.

And he pulls crap like this. The tipping point has been reached.

I went from nervousness to fear to anger to now withdrawing my support. Not for what he said. It's actually kind of true. But, for the ineptitude of his campaign.

25. It isn't my first election, it's my 3rd that I followed really closely
And yeah, John Kerry and Al Gore had problems like "voted for it before against it" and "invented the internet" but I never felt like they were running a Keystone Kops campaign the way Obama is.

Maybe Al Gore had a horrible start before he moved his campaign to Nashville and fired some staffers, et al, but it was never this bad. At least from what I remember.

The way that the Obama campaign has been run in key moments from NH to OH/TX to now this bitterness comment is quite frankly horrifying to me.

Hillary at least showed that when she was down, she knew how to turn things around. 10 point Ohio victory.

This is what Hillary means when she says that she has been "vetted."

I actually get it now.

42. Do you know how few people are watching CNN on a saturday night?
And how few people watch cable news period? And how few of those are undecided? And of that group how few will be swayed by something this silly and trumped up?

You're not switching your support because of how the comment stikes you, but because you're trying to get into the head of someone else who is supposed to be offended by it, which is based on absolutely nothing but speculation.

Even Bayh said the comments were basically true.

Turn off the TV. stop posting on this board. Get some fresh air and put your focus elsewhere until the end of the primary.

When she was left for dead in TX/OH, she came back and had a landslide victory. She ran a tremendous campaign in Ohio and TX. If she's down 8 to John Mccain come late October, I have full confidence in her ability to scratch and claw her way to a victory. Plus, she'll anihilate Mccain in the debates.

6. Politico's Mike Allen has had it in for Obama for a long time.
http://mediamatters.org/items/200703270006
Drudge flagged Obama hit piece on Politico -- which presented admittedly "trivial" inconsistencies -- apparently one hour before it was posted

In an article appearing in The Politico's March 27 print edition, Politico chief political correspondent Mike Allen wrote that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) has "shown a tendency toward seemingly minor contradictions and rhetorical slips," characterized Obama's alleged inconsistencies as "trivial," and wrote that "the senator's rhetorical miscues have been more curiosities than obvious political blunders." Nonetheless, Allen stretched these alleged "trivial" inconsistencies into a 1,200-word article headlined, "Rookie Mistakes Plague Obama," which appeared on the front page of the print edition. The Drudge Report flagged the article by posting its headline verbatim approximately one hour before The Politico posted the article on its website on the evening of March 26, according to Google News. Additionally, one of the so-called "curiosities" that Allen purported to expose were "strange echoes" of 2003 campaign speeches by former Sen. John Edwards (D-NC) in Obama's current campaign speeches. However, these "strange echoes" appear to be little more than oft-used rhetorical devices that are not unique to any presidential candidate.

In the article, Allen conceded that the "rookie mistakes" he highlighted were in fact "trivial" and "small":

While trivial, the remark is the sort of throwaway line that can trip up a candidate in the heat of a national campaign, and it shows the challenge the young senator will face in coming days as his words are dissected and scrutinized with fresh intensity.

Obama's gift with language -- his powerful speaking style and the graceful prose and compelling story of his best-selling memoir -- has been an engine of his dramatic, high-velocity rise in presidential politics. But he has also shown a tendency toward seemingly minor contradictions and rhetorical slips that serve as reminders that he is still a newcomer to national politics.

For the first time, Obama is on a stage where small mistakes can have disproportionately large consequences. The Republican National Committee, working in league with Bush operatives, exploited similar blunders -- sometimes misleadingly -- to portray the last two Democratic presidential nominees, Al Gore and John F. Kerry, as inconsistent or hypocritical in ways that savaged both men's reputations.

Drudge and the Politico -- poisonously joined at the hip
(Updated below - Update II - Update III - Update IV)
The new online political magazine, The Politico, is a pernicious new presence in our media landscape. As I noted the other day, it really is nothing more than the Drudge Report dressed up with the trappings of mainstream media credibility. Today, Will Bunch of the Philadelphia Daily News writes on his blog about what is merely the latest episode (of many) proving how closely coordinated The Politico is with The Drudge Report. It is not hyperbole to say that the former is all but an arm of the latter.
Last night, The Politico's Mike Allen published a petty, trite hit piece on Barack Obama -- entitled Rookie Mistakes Plague Obama -- claiming that Obama "has also shown a tendency toward seemingly minor contradictions and rhetorical slips" and referencing "imprecise or incomplete statements by Obama over the years." As Bunch noticed, Allen's story was "highlighted on the Drudge Report no later than 18 minutes after it was filed by Allen (how does he do it!)." Drudge continues prominently to promote The Politico's story today:
