Far from tossing everything and the kitchen sink at Barack, the Clintons are holding back. |

Kitchen Sink? We Haven't Even Seen The Brillo Pad Here is why : She and Bill Clinton both devoutly believe that Obama’s likely victory is a disaster-in-waiting. Naïve Democrats just don’t see it. And a timid, pro-Obama press corps, in their view, won’t tell the story.
But Hillary Clinton won’t tell it, either.
A lot of coverage of the Clinton campaign supposes them to be in kitchen-sink mode—hurling every pot and pan, no matter the damage this might do to Obama as the likely Democratic nominee in the fall.
In fact, the Democratic race has not been especially rough by historical standards. What’s more, our conversations with Democrats who speak to the Clintons make plain that their public comments are only the palest version of what they really believe: That if Obama is the nominee a likely Democratic victory would turn to a near-certain defeat.
Rip off the duct tape and here is what they would say: Obama has serious problems with Jewish voters (goodbye Florida), working-class whites (goodbye Ohio) and Hispanics (goodbye, New Mexico.)
Republicans will also ruthlessly exploit openings that Clinton—in the genteel confines of an intra-party contest—never could. Top targets: Obama’s radioactive personal associations, his liberal ideology, his exotic life story, his coolly academic and elitist style.
This view has been an article of faith among Clinton advisers for months, but it got powerful new affirmation last week with Obama’s clumsy ruminations about why “bitter” small-town voters turn to guns and God.
The Politico goes on to explain that McCain, as a Republican, can attack Obama in ways that Hillary cannot.
The last two Democratic nominees, Al Gore and John F. Kerry, were both military veterans, and both had been familiar, highly successful figures in national politics for more than two decades by the time they ran. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0408/9564.html
Both men lost control of their public images to the right-wing freak show — that network of operatives and commentators working mostly outside of the mainstream media — and ultimately lost their elections as many voters came to see them as elitist, out-of-touch, phony, and even unpatriotic.

1. So How Did So Many Democrats Win In 2006?* |
|
*Unless you're a Clinton/Carville follower, in which case you believe that we lost the 2006 election due to Dean's "Rumsfeldian" incompetence.

6. The Dem party won in 2006 because many of our candidates were very strong pro-RKBA. BO and HC have |
|
a strong anti-RKBA history including wanting to ban semiautomatics and handguns.
IMO that will cost them many votes and probably the GE unless they promise to veto any bill that comes to them that infringes upon the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms for self-defense.
In spite of their anti-RKBA history, either of them has my vote in the GE because I'm a life long Yellow Dog Democrat.

22. We've heard some incredible twaddle in the past few months, haven't we? |
|
The best silliness of this sort was the claim that a populist message buttressed by the truth was always a winning strategy.
Kerry was a stiff. He was a lunkheaded and oblivious bit of dryness that seemed virtually devoid of charisma in a surfacy media age. So many of us saw the trouble coming and spoke of it right here on this board, yet history is being written by sheer fantasists.
We're so fucked.
Still, the reactionaries have made such an unholy mess out of everything, we might just be able to win with one of these two.

3. That summary of BO's vulnerability in the GE is right on target. BO may win the Dem nomination but |
|
IMO he will lose the GE even with my Yellow Dog Democrat vote.

4. is right-wing radio talking about the gun grab yet? |
|
From the article above: " So, too, did questions about whether he once backed a total ban on handguns (he says no but in a 1996 state legislative race his campaign filled out a questionnaire saying yes)."
So, apparently there is a flip flop on guns to be exploited. That's an election loser.

8. BO was a board member of the Joyce Foundation that funds the Violence Policy Center (VPC). |
|
Joyce also offered BO the position as its president.
VPC’s primary goal is to ban handguns.
Would an anti-abortion group select a pro-abortion person for its president? NO!
Would an anti-handgun group select a pro-handgun person for its president? NO!
BO bears the mark of an anti-handgun supporter, a fact that will be noted by voters who recognize that handguns are the most effective, efficient tool for self-defense, the choice of 850,000 sworn law enforcement officers.
BO should promise voters “I will veto every bill that comes to me as president that infringes upon the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms for self-defense.”
Without that specific promise, BO could easily follow Gore and Kerry to defeat.

5. So you must be an elitist along with Hill and Bill...... |
|
since you state....."She and Bill Clinton both devoutly believe that Obama’s likely victory is a disaster-in-waiting. Naïve Democrats just don’t see it. And a timid, pro-Obama press corps, in their view, won’t tell the story."

There is so much dirt on McCain that he will be unelectable when we're done with him. Stay tuned. You'll know more in the coming months.

12. And I guess the Clinton's are immune to GOPers |
|
attack, they can't get attacked because they have lunch with Republicans, besides the Republican attack machine is so powerful that the only politician that can survive it are the Clintons... huh... huh... oh! look at me, I'm so :scared: because the Republicans are coming.
This is how lame most of you sound, like a broken record stuck at the end of its play. We do now that majority of you whom claims to be Democrats are those from the DLC which is the equivalent to the Neo- Cons, so when you get two extremes they end up meeting in the center calling themselves MODERATES.

13. This is getting pathetic and delusional. |
|
They are blinded by their own ambition. NO ONE would be a good enough nominee. Only THEY are qualified to run the country at this time. And when she says Obama "cannot win" that just means she's gonna do what she can to see that he doesn't.
The next President WILL be a Democrat. Come hell or high water. If we have to riot in the streets to reclaim our country, to save us from those hawkish thugs that have hijacked our country, the next President will be a Democrat.
There's no other option BUT to win and we will work to see that it happens.
Like it or not, the PEOPLE are for Obama. She needs to feign dignity and step aside. She will be applauded for a good fight. She will be ushered into the upper eschalons of the Democratic "Party Elderes". Provided they don't hinder Obama in anyway.
If she chooses to continue, here's what's going to happen: 1) EVERYTHING she says will be put under the microscope. Admit it or not your candidate either has a problem with her memory or a problem with the truth. She will mis-state over and over and over. She will be made to look crazy, or like an old lady with memory problems, or a sociopathic liar. 2) You will have more and more BIZARRE episodes like the other day... with her maniacally laughing off a serious ethics question and not being able to come up with ANYTHING in response to the question. It was her "Ashley Simpson" moment. It was HUMILIATING. For all of us. 3) People will PUBLICLY turn against her... endorsers, friends, Superdelegates... because she's now officially hurting our cause in November. She has to either help us or get out of the way. The people have spoken and the people will run right over her if she doesn't step aside. 4) The Clinton legacy will be destroyed. She AND BILL have made so many enemies with their bullying campaign tactics and arm twisting it WILL taint a look back on the 90s. History will be written by the victors.
Look, we need to stop all this. It's over for Hillary but it's not over for you. Come help us. We're not so bad. We've all got the same goal: Getting a Democrat in the White House. Think about it!
