It's all about the Clinton "brand", not the bitterness. |
|
Obama had the unmitigated honesty to include WJC administration in his list of political betrayal of the small town working folks. Everyone knows that 1993-2000 were the golden years of peace and prosperity for the US. Everyone was richer, healthier, prettier, and younger than at any time in the history of the world.
How could anyone dare suggest that there were places in America that didn't prosper and grow during the Clinton years? How could anyone say that NAFTA and other trade policies did not bring more and better jobs to every American? How could anyone say that Welfare Reform had any other effect than to move millions out of poverty and into the middle class?
While certainly better than the Reagan/Bush/Bush, the Clinton years were at best a plateau for the US manufacturing sector and yes some folks might just be a little bitter about that too.
If the HRC campaign were to let BHO's comments go without challenge, the voters in PA and elsewhere might be a bit less impressed with HRC's record of accomplishment.

5. Dollar Bill Clinton put into motion |
|
Nafta which took a couple of years to bleed off companies into the third world.
We also enjoyed the dot-com bubble......which propped up a financial sector rotten to the core.
Remember the Nasdaq outperforming the Dow Industrials??
Redhat Linux opened at what....112 bucks a share and went to 850 or something insane within the year....
I didn't get any of that, so I don;t remember the exact figures. They were breathtaking, though.
Clinton only LOOKED like he did shit for the economy.
His damage only started to be felt in the last year of his presidency.

6. Didn't he try to pressure the Taliban for Enron? |
|
Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 01:31 AM by bigbrother05
Pushing them to get on board with a pipeline across Afghanistan to get to the oil in the OtherStans (on the north) to avoid dealing with the Russians and Turks.
They turned it all down, then when Jr. came in, didn't he give the Taliban $60M to fight opium (or something like that) and tried to pressure them again for Kenny Boy? That's probably why he didn't read the NIE, he already knew they wanted to bust us one. Think he misunderestimated how successful their response would be. That's why he wouldn't leave the reading circle, he realized how badly he had fucked up and the old man was going to be pissed.
But you know they only hate us for our freedom.
edit to add: Still remember my first thought (think I actually said it outloud), "The bastard has been daring them to knock the chip off his shoulder and they hit him upside of the head with a two by four!" He was spoiling for a fight, now our soldiers and the world have been forced to pay the price.
