Bogus issue politics and "bitterness".
We have a country with serious issues. As long as the bitterness, religion, and guns horse hockey continues, the very real issues of torture, constitutional conflagration, a deck of cards economy blowing in the wind, broken dysfunctional government and an America on its knees in real world terms do not make the needed discussion in the lexicon. Meanwhile, the continued downward trend will continue with the presidential aspirations of McCain and a "free ride express" to November.

3. Right.
We need to look past the distractions, and keep our eyes on the prize.

5. And somehow we need to get the people focused on reality.
We live in a real insulated country right now largely carved out in ideology, myths, and disinformation that some perpetrators benefit from. Too much is media staged at what issues are really important with disregard to real problems and realities.

4. I hope enough people have enough sense to
see past the media favortism and take even a cursory glance at what the repukes have done to screw up the country. Hell, they haven't stopped here. They've destroyed Iraq, too.

What it's going to take is people taking a hard look at the pump when they buy a few gallons, a hard look at their grocery store receipts as they carry out a small bag of essentials for big $$, a hard look at their health insurance premiums (if they're fortunate enough to have insurance at all), a hard look at the guy from the bank who comes to repossess their house, and ask themselves, "Who did this to me?" Only when they recognize that the answer is "the likes of Bush/Cheney/McCain and the other repukes in Congress" will we have a Democratic President. However, if it doesn't happen this time around, the situation the average person finds himself in by 2012 is going to be dire. Until the masses recognize and start voting their self-interest, this country will never recover.

7. I hope You Don't Mind
I hope you don't mind a Republican posting on this thread. I promise to keep it civil and attack the posters here far less than you all seem to tear into each other. At one time I was terrified that you would sweep us out of the White House, but you have helped to put my mind at ease and I am looking forward to working with half of you to defeat the other half in November.

My blog http://thatsrightnate.wordpress.com/ recently was subject to a prank by a friend of mine that I bought hook line and sinker accusing Barrack Obama of things he didn't do. I was amazed at how quickly Hillary sources picked up on it and thought I apologized as soon as I learned I was wrong, it had already spread around the internets. In fact, that's how I've discovered Democratic Underground in the first place. I am truely amazed at how quickly you will all post information from extremely right wing sites to attack each other. What self-respecting Republican would get talking points from Air America? However, you guys love finding whatever Rush or O'Reilly are saying now to attack each other.

I don't know if I'll be welcome on this board as a Republican and if I get booted I'll live with that. However, I do invite you to visit my blog. I will probably have lots of attacks on the other candidate that you can use, but also some pretty straight forward conservative thinking. I do apologize for any confusion caused by my posting a false story. I have taken steps to make sure that doesn't happen again.

See you in Novemeber, or at least half of you!
