Obama had a reasonable answer about religion in politics.
Even had a shout-out to atheists.

3. teh best I can paraphrase ...
... in the most basic way, is that religion does exist and should be acknowledged, but not used to divide the country. That we are not just a xtian nation but also jewish, buddhist, muslim, and atheist.

Again, just my most basic paraphrasing. sorry ya missed it.

12. I like how he mentioned it as not any different than another other group.
Meaning, he didn't single it out in a good or bad way - just listed it with equal weight. I think that's the right way to approach religion/agnostic/atheism. All from equal grounding.

2. I have to say that he handled that very well....
He spoke of extremes on both sides having no place in the public square. I couldn't agree more.

6. Considering he did a 40 minute speech on that very subject at Sojourners, he has thought
about the subject before.

17. That's one of the reasons I like him.
I'm not an atheist (Catholic) but I am irked by how our current politicians ignore the concerns of atheists, almost to point where they consider them "un-american." Obama recognizes that people of all faiths, including no faith, are Americans.

Just a guess.

19. Wes Clark acknowledged atheist a time or two also
it was impressive.

I wish he would have run his campaign as freely and openly as Obama is running his. I feel like he didn't trust that he could ignore conventional wisdom, so he never really let it all hang out.
