Why would Hillary say that about Al Gore |
|
you would think she would be trying to get Gore's endorsement...not insult him...unless there is some truth behind the rumors of Carter and Gore preparing to endorse Obama

13. The article said Gore and Carter we going to step in to end it. |
|
Not that they are necessarily going to endorse Obama soon. Carter said he would not endorse until the Convention, but that his entire family is for Obama, and eluded that has his guy. They could very well have called Hillary, and the SuperD's.
I would really love a Gore Endorsement, though.

because he was Clinton's VP and the Clinton's think anybody who has served with them has to be with them no matter what.

If she calls Obama, Gore, Kerry et. al elitists, how could she be one herself? It's so utterly ridiculous I can't stand it.

I wonder if Bill Richardson got the same treatment when he said he was going with Obama

She understands that there is no way that Al Gore is going to endorse her in the primary. If she had won the nomination, he certainly would have. But he is supporting the winner, Barack Obama.

So, paint the Nobel Laureate as an 'elitist', put him on the enemies list, and throw him under the bus.
Hillary is going to run out of buses to throw Democrats under, real, real soon.

Those two will have alienated so many big time Democrats by the time this thing is wrapped up, they may find themselves persona non grata to the party.

"We had two very good men, and men of faith, run for president in 2000 and 2004," she said. "Large segments of the electorate concluded that they did not really understand, or relate to, or respect their ways of life."
It's entirely true that there was a divide in the electorate in those contests. The side which voted for Bush did hold those views, about our party, that she expressed.

Perhaps she thought that a badly worded insult would get Gore to endorse her for some reason? I don't know I just know that It is disgusting that someone who is supposed to be part of the democratic party would throw great democratic candidates of the past under the bus like that.

she doesn't know where she is in the campaign. She never prepared herself mentally for a long primary because she thought she thought it would all be over by Feb 5. She thinks it's the GE (she thought she would be campaigning in the GE in April not still grinding away inthe primary) and she knows Obama is running as the democratic candidate and she knows she is his opponent, so she is adopting the opponent persona/stance regardless of what it is. If she actually had to run against McCain, who knows what positions she would adopt?

that there was going to be a relatively close and extremely hostile contest between Clinton and Obama, a number of the "party elders" made a decision to not endorse either candidate. They decided that they needed to remain out of the contest, so that if it became clear the contest was severely damaging the party, or if there was a dispute near convention time that was possibly going to court, that they could try to step in and negotiate a settlement. This group includes Al Gore and others (including at least one person who was in the primary). Many people believed that Gore was concerned that Obama would win the popular vote and have more delegates, and that Clinton would try to strong-arm the super delegates at the convention. They believe that Gore would not allow the winner to have the nomination stolen from him. Certainly Clinton, who had a less than positive relationship with the Gores in the 1990s, is aware of this.
