109. Time to let Hillary know it is time to throw in the towel
Today I received an email from Hillary's campaign asking, "We want to know what you think -- about the state of the race, our campaign strategy, or your ideas for doing things differently." Seems like a strange request to someone who has never contributed a dime to her campaign. Is she really asking our permission to withdraw? I have taken this as an opportunity to let her campaign know that I think, for the good of our country, she should withdraw right now. I encourage everyone here to do the same.

Here is what I wrote on her website at http://www.hillaryclinton.com/action/ideas/?sc=1774&utm_source=1774&utm_medium=e.

"I was one of your biggest supporters. Your attempt to overhaul the health care system in our country in the 90's was heroic. You demonstrated leadership and guts in how you handled the attacks and challenges of Bill's Presidency.

However, now, your latest destructive campaign tactics and refusal to face the realities of the situation are damaging our chances of getting rid of the Republican thugs that have our country by the throat.

It is time to throw in the towel! Announce you are going to submit to the will of the voters now and throw your support to Barack Obama. It is time to start running against McCain and the right-wing establishment. We cannot do so with your continuing your bitter, divisive and hopeless primary campaign.

Do the right thing. Save your reputation and dignity. Work now to elect Barack Obama as our next President."

147. Hey, I did it too. thanks for the link
here's what I wrote.

Dear Sen. Clinton's campaign,
Thanks for the opportunity to share my thoughts with Senator Clinton. What I must say, is that I feel it's time for Hillary to withdraw from the Democratic primary, since the only possible outcome at this point is to weaken Obama's chances at beating McCain the GE.

I hope for the sake of our party and our nation that she will see the wisdom of conceding the nomination to the front-runner, Barak Obama.

Thanks again for the opportunity to comment on Sen. Clinton's campaign effort.

Life-long Lib/Dem,
John Hubbird

81. Was Hillary concerned about PA when saying the race would be over by Feb 5th?
Answer: No. Nor were her supporters.

Q: Is Hillary concerned that PA and the remaining states don't have the same candidate choices as all of the previous states?

A: No. Hillary nor any of her supporters are claiming that voters have been disenfranchised by other candidates having withdrawn from the race, prior to all of the states having voted.

This is not an election; it is a party nominating process. PA *will* still vote, as will every other state, regardless of how many candidates remain on the ticket. The voters will have only slightly less choice without Hillary still in the race as they would *with* her still in the race. Where's Dodd, Biden, Edwards, Kucinich, Gravel, Richardson? The same place Hillary should be, having gracefully bowed-out once her path to the nomination was lost.

42. Your opinion of angry apparently is pretty sensitive, you must find Hillary angry often.
What I saw was a feisty response, and you ought to appreciate the guy who we'll be voting for, turning a potential negative around and slamming the responses of McCain and Clinton, showing how they're out of touch for Pennsylvania. It was good to finally see him like this. That's what will be needed for him to beat McSame ---

For once, I'm glad Hillary was in the primary still, at least for a day.

Like a little dog that isn't threatening but snips at your heals when you're trying to get work done. You ignore it for awhile, but then eventually, through pure annoyance, you have to push it away with your shoes or just chain it up to the fence in the backyard. Hillary just got chained. How many times does she have to bark at Obama, needlessly, only to be put in her place like the nippity little pet that she's acting like?

126. He said neither
He just called her remarks ridiculous because they are. Hillary, champion of gun advocacy. Riiiiiight. And we have Democcrats here actually defending her remarks. Now that's scary. Hillary could come out pro-life tomorrow and the Hillary fans would certainly support her. "Oh abortion... Obama doesn't believe in your unborn fetus's rights. He's a child killer at heart, and out of touch with the working man in Pennsylvania. Back when I was a kid, my family and I use to picket abortion clinics."

Hillary could say that, and she's still get defended by her groupie base. Obama folks might be drinking Kool-aid, but if that's true, the Hillary camp has been sucking down the harder stuff.

94. I believe that the word has gone out from the powers that be that Obama must be "Deaned"
He may have mentioned one of the great unmentionables in American politics, i.e. that ordinary citizens are angry. Acknowledging that anger exists, even if it completely justifiable, is a threat to the powers that be--as is a candidate who is raising his money from those angry citizens instead of from the political donor class.

But maybe I'm just paranoid.

Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 06:38 PM by OnionPatch
They're trying one thing after another, hoping something will stick. This uproar over the "bitter" remark pretty much proves it to me. I grew up in one of those little towns he talked about and I don't understand the uproar over his words at all. Sure, we value our guns and our God. Who wouldn't cling to the things that will protect them when everything else seems to be falling apart? What's so insulting about that? I'm glad he understands it. Methinks there's a whole lot of fake-outrage at play here.

Edited to add: I believe the only ones who are really outraged are Republicans who can't stand Obama in the first place and will jump on anything the media throws out to them.

Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 01:36 PM by KoKo01
He didn't seem Presidential to me in that speech before the Steel Workers. He slipped into a Southern accent...down home...which seemed Preachy. He "got into his rhetoric" too much and enjoyed the Annie Oakley thing a little too much.

I don't disagree with what he was saying...but his delivery isn't going to go over well with the general public... Too "down homey" when what many people are looking for is confidence and sophistication.

I worry that Obama is becoming a chameleon.... It's not good to slip in and out of accents. He was born in Hawaii...lived in Indonesia, his mother and grandparents were from Kansas he graduated from Columbia and Harvard .....yet he's talking like Reverend Sharpton. I've heard him speak very differently in other speeches. So he slips in and out of the preacher mode.

This will bother many people.

Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 06:37 PM by FedoraLV
between this and the video where Sen. Clinton is booed is remarkable: she turns back to her notes, she does not react to how the audience is taking her words, she just gives the speech from the page no matter how people react. Sen. Obama listens to the audience, he listens for their responses, he talks to an audience member when he doesn't quite catch their reply. He's right there with them, talking without notes, exactly making his point that he's responsible to the people.

Wow.
