Has anyone figured out exactly where Obama stands on the issue of free-trade, yet? |
|
Because he just threw every single supporter of his for a loop when he said that frustrated working-class people also "cling" to "anti-trade sentiment" (in addition to "guns, religion", etc.)
Was he letting the rich SF donors know that he's actually no different from Hillary on the issue of free-trade? Yes or no? What, precisely, is the "change" that he keeps talking about?

2. My understanding is he isn't against them but is against their lopsidedness that hurt working class. |
|
Now I WOULD love to know how in the hell is he going to fix the lopsidedness thought but because he's been so creative so far I'd put more stock in his admin trying to fix things that Hillary or McSames

3. He's for it, with protections for workers rather than industry |

Per website Obama believes that trade with foreign nations should strengthen the American economy and create more American jobs. He will stand firm against agreements that undermine our economic security.
* Fight for Fair Trade: Obama will fight for a trade policy that opens up foreign markets to support good American jobs. He will use trade agreements to spread good labor and environmental standards around the world and stand firm against agreements like the Central American Free Trade Agreement that fail to live up to those important benchmarks. Obama will also pressure the World Trade Organization to enforce trade agreements and stop countries from continuing unfair government subsidies to foreign exporters and nontariff barriers on U.S. exports. * Amend the North American Free Trade Agreement: Obama believes that NAFTA and its potential were oversold to the American people. Obama will work with the leaders of Canada and Mexico to fix NAFTA so that it works for American workers. * Improve Transition Assistance: To help all workers adapt to a rapidly changing economy, Obama would update the existing system of Trade Adjustment Assistance by extending it to service industries, creating flexible education accounts to help workers retrain, and providing retraining assistance for workers in sectors of the economy vulnerable to dislocation before they lose their jobs.

6. Maybe we should call Obama the "Here's my link: look it up" candidate |

I don't know if you're able to read English or not, but Obama said something last week that apparently contradicted what had been previously been posted by his staff on the campaign site. That may be too confusing for you to understand, though.
