Breaking: McCain wants staff not to attack Hillary. He wants to face her in GE.
Yes, I know it is from Drudge. Yes, I know Drudge is a right wing hack. But, he generally posts things that come from legitimate press. This story is "Developing"... if it proves true this is pretty damaging to Hillary.

Republican presidential hopeful John McCain has confided to his inner circle that Hillary Clinton may yet be the Democratic nominee, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned, a development the senator from Arizona would personally welcome!

"Look, I know something about long odds, they had me written off last summer," McCain explained over the weekend, according to a top source. McCain would prefer to go up against Clinton in the general election, insiders reveal.

He has instructed his campaign staff to "chill out" on countering Hillary Clinton's torrent of claims and promises as primary voting comes to end over the next 6 weeks. McCain made the tactical decision to downplay Clinton's tale of Bosnia sniper fire, leaving some McCain staffers frustrated and perplexed.

Instead, the critical focus has been on Barack Obama. McCain's official website features 14 press releases taking on Obama since the first of the year, only 3 for the former first lady.

So, my question: Is Hillary returning the favor to McCain? Is this a win/win situation for McCain and Hillary. They team up against Obama. Obama goes down. Hillary gets the nomination and McCain gets a controversial candidate with a controversial nomination win.

The bitter-gate manufactured scandal seemed to have mighty quick matching talking points from both Hillary and McCain.

4. I didn't know there were any people still unaware of the Repug desire to run against Hillary
Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 10:43 AM by mrone2
since she has negatives equal to or higher than her positives. The Republicans have never really made any secret of it, and Rush Limbaugh has dedicated entire segments of his radio program to exactly that. So how in the world could this be new "news" to anyone??

Obama represents to the Repugs an even bigger threat that the Presidency....he's very likely to achieve HUGE coattails. A major turnover in congress could reduce the Republican party to little more than an afterthought.

5. -john and hillary best buds according to bill
good thing i did`t delete this

"She and John McCain are very close," Clinton said. "They always laugh that if they wound up being the nominees of their party, it would be the most civilized election in American history, and they're afraid they'd put the voters to sleep because they like and respect each other."

7. I think Hillary would find out real quick how "close" McCain was if she
pulls this nomination out of her ass.

There are literally years of clinton fodder for the repub party bosses and associated TV pundits and hatemongers to throw at her.

It'll be the kitchen sink to the 10th power.

9. Not if it's Hillary's fundraising numbers, which she leaked to Drudge
before officially releasing them to the press.

Awww, what a nice thing that was.

I doubt she did it twice. But really... once is enough.

14. Well, for one thing, Mark McKinnon will quit McCain's campaign when Obama's the nom.
And that alone might cost McCain the election.

Plus, Obama's way too smart for McCain - one debate and McCain will be done.

15. That's been the plan along. Win win for Exxon-Mobil etc.
That's what NH was supposed to accomplish, only it hasn't been working out so well on Hillary's side.
