I think we will here more about Obama in the future...How is this good for the GE, again?
The Obama campaign is counting on stupidity of voters and reporters for survival.!

Follow the Money: The Obamas and Auchi attended party at Rezko's house
Star prosecution witness Stuart Levine testified April 14, 2008, in the federal fraud trial of indicted political fixer Antoin "Tony" Rezko that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and his wife, Michelle Obama, attended an April 2004 party held at Rezko's home in honor of Iraqi-British billionaire businessman Nadhmi Auchi, "who was visiting the United States at the time."

Levine said very little about the party at Rezko's home or Obama's presence there.

He said he had flown Rezko's family back from Mexico the same day so that they would be in Chicago in time for the party.

"Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn was there?" Rezko attorney Joseph J. Duffy asked.

"Yes, Sir," Levine answered.

"Mr. and Mrs. Obama were there?" Duffy asked.

Levine testified, however, that "the governor was a no-show."

To date, both Sen. Obama and Mr. Auchi have denied having met, although Sen. Obama has said it is possible that he dropped in at the April 3, 2004, reception dinner hosted by Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and held in Mr. Auchi's honor at Chicago's Four Seasons hotel.

Obama bomb dropped

When Tony Rezko held a reception at his home for Iraqi-born billionaire Nadhmi Auchi on April 3, 2004, White House hopeful Barack Obama and his wife were also there, Stuart Levine testified just now at Rezko's trial.

Auchi is the man who provided Rezko a $3.5 million loan that Rezko did not disclose to the court -- resulting in his January arrest.
"Mr. and Mrs. Obama were there, were they not?" Rezko lawyer Joseph Duffy asked.
"Yes, sir," Levine said.
Obama and his aides have said Obama has no recollection of ever meeting Auchi.

Rezko invited Levine to the reception after the two met up with each other during a family vacation in Puerto Vallarta. Rezko had to leave early to arrange for the reception, Levine testified. So Levine offered to rent a larger jet and fly Rezko's wife and children back to Chicago. That night, they all attended the reception.

The reception was aimed at getting Auchi interested in investing in Illinois, Levine said.

Levine testified that Lt. Gov. Patrick Quinn.
"The governor was no-show?" Duffy asked.
Levine: "I don’t know that he was a no-show. I seem to recall..."
Duffy: "Was Gov. Blagojevich present?"
Levine: "Uh, no sir."

That reception has raised questions over whether Auchi should have been allowed into the United States because of legal problems he's faced overseas. Auchi, who lives in London, was named one of the wealthiest men in the world by Forbes Magazine.

This is a different reception than one held at the Four Seasons Hotel, where Blagojevich was present.
Here's the Sun-Times story on the Rezko-Auchi relationship and the hotel reception:

The Feb. 28 story: Tony Rezko's billionaire buddy

During her 15-minute speech there, she said that cementing the India-U.S. relationship would be the top priority of her administration.

...by the folks with whom she made deals to send American jobs to India, and you don't think it belongs in this folder?

Why don't you ask the PA union members what they think about it. Ask them:

Would you rather your president have attended, years ago, a party of a man who ended up being indicted... or...

Would you rather your president have a current ongoing relationship by which she profits by millions in campaign funds froom a party with the very folks who stole your jobs from you?

31. Read again.

Obama said he might have met him at an April 3rd, 2004 reception at The Four Seasons.

Levine (R-crook) says Obama went to a reception for Auchi at an April 3rd, 2004 reception at Rezko's.

Same date, but different location. And, like Obama, Levine doesn't remember if Obama met Auchi while there (it's possible they were there at different times).

in the fall, I have not drunk the kool-aid. This WILL be a problem, as will Rev Wright. I just need to be armed with the truth and not the truth that some Obama supporters wish were so. So, I'll not be putting my head in the sand and thinking just because it didn't work against Sen Obama during the dem primary season, it wont work with pubs, moderates and indies in the fall.

Editoral board of the right-wing Chicago Tribune had a sitdown with Obama about Rezko, and determined that he's telling the truth about Rezko.

Googling it is a easy find.

70. Since when does the truth matter in the GE?
Did VP Gore ever claim to have invented the internet? It will be the insinuations and the guilt by association cards that get played. And Rev Wright (contrary to what many people on this board believe) is going to be a MAJOR issue in the fall.

And this "already been vetted" argument is nonsense. There were three different congressional investigations into the death of Vince Foster - THREE!! And yet, I saw people ON THIS SITE claim it will be an issue in the fall if she was the candidate and insinuating she killed him. So the vetting argument holds no water.

How we wound up with the two weakest candidates duking it out is totally beyond me.

Obama stated in this interview with The Sun Times he never met Mr. Auchi.

Now he and his wife are at a party for him at Rezkos house. The same Auchi that gave Rezko $3.5 million prior to Obama purchasing his mansion. Before he purchased the house he took Rezko for a walk through. Some thing else I read Obama house is in trust, I never heard of a house that has a mortgage is kept in trust. Some one needs to check on that information. I'll say it again... I do believe that this is the tip of the Obama iceberg!

Rezko trial witness says Obama attended party for billionaireMonday, April 14, 2008 | 2:20 PM CHICAGO -- The government's star witness at the fraud trial of Antoin "Tony" Rezko testified Monday that Sen. Barack Obama and his wife attended a party four years ago at the home of the indicted political fundraiser.

Stuart Levine said the party took place in April 2004 and was held to honor Iraqi-born Nadhmi Auchi, a London-based billionaire who was visiting the United States at the time.
Rezko, 52, was a major fundraiser for Obama and Gov. Rod Blagojevich, and the trial has been closely watched because of Obama's presidential campaign. But very little has been said about the senator thus far.

<snip>

Obama spokesman Bill Burton said he could not comment immediately, but indicated he would do so shortly.

Rezko is charged with scheming with Levine to squeeze money management firms wanting state business for kickbacks and split a bribe. Rezko has denied that he took part in such a scheme.
But his bond was revoked and he was jailed by the trial judge after federal prosecutors discovered a wire transfer of $3.5 million in 2007 to his attorneys from Auchi by way of a bank in Lebanon. Rezko had told Judge Amy J. St. Eve that he had no money, no way of getting money and was living off the charity of friends and relatives.

Levine has pleaded guilty to the charges and taken the stand as the government's star witness in hopes of getting a lenient sentence.

Levine agreed with a Duffy statement that "the governor was a no-show."

Auchi is one of the world's richest men and Illinois officials obviously had hoped when he visited this state four years ago that he would invest in it. Since then he has purchased a 62-acre tract not far from the heart of downtown Chicago. Rezko was at one time a part-owner.
