I am starting to think Obama is doing it on purpose
Time and again he brings up uncomfortable subjects that the media and his opponents jump to use as an attack on him. Time and again it focuses public attention on him where he goes on to not only explain his comments but further them to make people look inward and realize the truth in what he is saying. Time and again the perceived negatives become positives.

Maybe its just that he is brilliant and gets it. Maybe he is just more in tune with the average american voter and understands their wants and hopes and when given the opportunity to talk about them he connects with them well. I don't know what it is but this bitter gate thing is showing once again that when they try to spin him he doesn't run from it he faces it head on and people seem to respect him for it.

Our nation is better for having the debate about wright and I believe our nation will be better after having this conversation about peoples disenchantment with their government.I predict next week McCain and Clinton will be talking about how they hear Americas anger with washington.

I am ready for this man to be president. How sweet that we get the added bonus of breaking a glass ceiling.

Gobama!

Despite her train wreck of a campaign.

5. I think its because he is talking about what he believes in instead of
What he thinks people want to hear. Its easy to be light on your feet when you believe what you are saying. Clinton has to think about every thing she says very carefully in case she forgets what the polls say she is supposed to say.

4. He's either the best lemonade-from-oopsy-lemon maker ever....
... or like you said he's just setting up the lesser intellects. Hard to tell which. It almost doesn't matter though, since each is impressive enough.

6. It is interesting! I was thinking along those same lines. Not on purpose but
because he thinks it is important and he does not seem to shrink from dissent and debate. He definitely is rattling the cage and the "conventional wisdom." The old farts of the media turn purple and Obama glides on very calmly. I like his style. And this may be a real defining moment in presidential history...

8. Yea I doubt he is doing it on purpose really
It would be amazing if he was, however his ability to turn these things into positives is incredible to watch and at the same time I think actually does bring this nation closer together.

Its going to be a great 8 years with this guy in the top seat. Maybe we can finally kiss the spin good bye for a year or two.

11. I just hope people are so fed up they'll turn on the media, instead of slavishly
following everything they're saying.

Last week Tim Russert came to speak at Southern CT State U. here in New Haven. I briefly skimmed the article on him in our local paper the next day and was totaly amazed at the "answers" he gave to questions asked of him. He was mouthing stuff that anyone with half a brain would know anyway, passing himself off as some kind of "expert." It was embarrassing.

These media people are idiots. They are all playing this stupid game of "gotcha." I'm so sick and tired of it, I wish there was ONE media person who makes sense and tells the truth...

16. Every once in a while, if not daily
these media clowns say something that exposes them for the blowhards they are.

I think the internet has turned the whole talking head thing upside down.

7. Which makes me think HRC is in cahotes with him, make her self look bad while paroting RR points and
...immunizing BO against them he runs against McSame.

I can't imagine this not hurting HRC more than it helps her, she voted for NAFTA and now Obama can call her out on that issue

10. I love this "Obama as Messiah" attitude
"No, he doesn't make mistakes. Even if it LOOKS like a mistake, he's doing it on purpose. He's infallible i tell ya'....."

Look, he screws up. Words things a bit.. dopily. He's human for crying out loud. Its not the end of the world. Its hurting him a bit, but not fatally. However, the "this is all part of a larger strategy" crowd really kills me. Wake me when he starts healing the blind and making the lame walk.

14. You say he screwed up
Apparently theres a whole lot of people out there that agreed with what he said. The point of what he said if not the exact phrasing.

The fact that people are actually laughing at McCain and Clinton now for trying to make it an issue kinda puts the He screwed up thing to bed and turns it into a fake outrage gets you only derision thing.

Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 03:28 PM by Egnever
since you seem to have missed it in my first post is that those people will now watch to see what else he will say and hear him explain it. It will touch them and make them realize he is right. The talk shows already came around the polls are next.

They are laughing at hillary today.

28. Oh, not really. I thought it was just humorous.
I'm about as strong a feminist as they come, but I thought it was lighthearted, not vicious or demeaning her as a woman. Annie Oakley is a feminist icon; she could shoot and ride as well as any man. Ithink he was gently poking fun at HRC's kinda lame stuff about learning to shoot a gun. It was fine as far as it went, but a stretch to think of her as what I would call a "gun person." I mean, if she had been a hunter or a marksperson while First Lady, then I would get it that guns are important to her in her life. But she just...wasn't...

26. In this case... no.
You don't make potentially incendiary comments about the rural midwest in San Francisco. You just don't. Regardless of whether or not his comments were planned or true, that is not the correct venue in which to make them.

You can't knock him off his center of gravity.

Because his center of gravity is US.
