how his numbers could be tanking in PA and Indiana supposedly, but it not showing a dent in these national numbers or in NC.

People in PA and IN are paying a lot more attention than the rest of the nation, it also is getting more press there. In the case of PA his remarks were directly aimed at PA folks so obviously it would hurt him more there. As to NC, his NC performance is based on rock solid black support that he has had in every state so far (the lowest he ever got was 37% in NY), as you have noted several times. Basically it is almost impossible for Obama to go down in NC because he starts with a rock solid base of 27-30% overall from the black vote alone.
