Bittergate has Backfired...
...judging by the polling as of April 13, 2008.

It appears the bitter-gate controversy has not had the intended negative impact on Obama's standing in PA. On the other hand...notice the movement of Hill's trendline in recent days. It has shot straight down...

Meanwhile, I think everyone is watching way too much TV --

forget the idiots -- stop tuning in ---

Stick with people like Cafferty --

4. The reason why
...I threw out my cable TV box eons ago.

CNN, Fox, MSNBC do little more than spew tabloid sensationalism.

I can't remember the last time I watched anything on television, and have felt much better ever since.

Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 05:01 PM by defendandprotect
My sister never had a TV ---
she evidently saw immediately when she first got together with the guy who is now her long-time husband that he was just turning into a veg watching sports. She got rid of the TV and then
never had one again for like 20 years . . .

I have a 12" near my computer --- and I love it cause it does TEXT when I mute ---
and I flip off a lot --- and move around a lot --- but I can be on computer and see what's
being said at same time if I want to.

We need internet screens so that I can watch C-span/Senate and listen to Randi Rhodes at same time!!!
Split Screens --- yeah!!

Here's to NO TV's --- !!!

20. I can watch most of those prgorams
on the internet--Colbert, Stewart, Maher, KO, C-Span, my favorite sports programs, etc.

the cool thing is I get to watch them at my convenience...instead of having to follow a set schedule which I find is almost impossible for me to do anyway.

Tonight on C-span I got to see the entire replay of Obama's speech from this morning, with the question and answer period after, and heard his detailed opinions on the campaign, how he envisions his potential administration, and on some of his main policy positions.

I don't think it's clear yet on the polls. My guess is an initial dip for Obama and then the polls will stabilize by Wednesday-Thursday.

15. Yep
The graph posted at the top of this thread shows a 10 pt. drop for Obama since the recent "bitter-gate". The most recent data point looks like the ARG poll so I won't read much into that drop unless other polls show something similar.

The trend line in this graph is completely meaningless as far trying to see the effect of recent events because it is very similar to a moving average and is backward looking. Looking at this sort of graph in a few weeks will then tell us something about how things were affected the last few days.

57. I wasn't clear
Looking back at what I wrote I wasn't clear that I was talking about the last data point in the poll reflecting a 10 pt. drop rather than the trend line. What I was trying to say (apparently not as clearly as I should have) was that the trend line is meaningless as far as seeing the effect of this stupid "bitter-gate".

I agree that it is too early to see what the effect will be. I suspect that it won't be enough to fundamentally change things.

But I predict that if you look at this chart 4 weeks from now you'll see the trend lines changing directions in Hillary's favor - a short temporary bump for her.

56. Trend Line versus Data Points
The dropping line is a trend line and is backward looking. It shows that Hillary has been dropping for the last couple of weeks, but doesn't include the events of the last few days. The actual last data point on the chart appears to be the ARG poll which showed a rise in Hillary's support and drop in Obama's. But, as I said, the Hillary rise relative to Obama seems to large and I'd look at other polls before accepting the ARG poll at face value.

But all those polls were taken BEFORE "Bittergate" - with the exception of the ARG poll which gave Clinton a 20-point lead. ARG may not be that accurate (I don't think it is) but that's the highest lead she's enjoyed in any of the ARG polls. It's too early yet to see how this little manufactured outrage will affect the race in PA.

Another Clinton misstep. She simply can't read the mood of the American people, which is reason #1 why she has no business being president of this country. We've had one out-of-touch president who thought his shit didn't stink, we don't need another.
