Obama needs to fight this:

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/04/14/clinton_releases_tough_new_ant.html

with this:

Turn Hillary's 4 lies (per Bill said while she was groggy and late at night) into an info commercial on her trustworthiness.

Too bad he may need to go negative, but no swift boating this time.

The corporate media is in a frenzy over the bitterness, but it seems to most voters --- it falls into the category of who gives a shit. Yet if Hillary is gonna go negative with it, Obama must go negative on Hillary.

There comes a point where you can no longer ignore someone trying to bully you. Obama can end this thing in Pennsylvania!

Now would be a good time to do just that.

1. Here was my approach:
"What voters will not tolerate are lies. They've spent decades being lied to, and they're tired of it. Don't tell them that things are fine when their own experience tells them different. Don't tell them that you've tried to protect their jobs from being sent overseas when you've spent years supporting free trade agreements...and have your own chief campaign strategist trying to sell a free trade agreement to Columbia. Don't tell them that you were under sniper fire...and then repeat that lie three more times when their sons and daughters are dying every day in Iraq and Afghanistan."

4. He simply is not going to do it in the primary.
His words have to be twice as good, his commercials have to be twice as ethical.

Moreover he has an eye to the general election. On August 24th he wants to bring along as many of HRC supporters that he can.

5. Yes, but he needs to put her out of her misery

On August 24th, if Hillary's wish comes true - we will stumble into the convention in Denver bruised, bloody, and exhausted. If this thing goes on all summer, our party will be in shreds.

Time does heal but we must have some distance and perspective to do this long before the convention. Obama does need Hillary supporters to win, but we as a party need to end this fight ASAP. September is way too late to get over an explosive convention battle.

I appreciate taking the high road, but he now needs to respond to an exceptionally crazy situation - he is facing a candidate (and husband) determined to win even to the great detriment of our party.

The time to be noble will still lay before him - the time to knock her to the canvas is now!

You may not like having to resort to more aggressive tactics, but I want to WIN this fall. Winning takes precedent. And Obama will still stand tall even if he takes her out with going negative.
