Obama fans: Stop panicking. Hillary's campaign is already dead.
Just keep that in mind. Even if she wins Pennsylvania (and we're seeing more and more of an if from Pennsylvania now,) she'll lose the war.

Short of Obama eating a baby on live TV, he's already won.

That's the math.

Go play with Slate's delegate calculator and see for yourself just what it would take for Hillary to catch up. In the real world, it ain't gonna happen.

So don't panic.

Don't fall for the FAUX Noise spin. Obama's campaign is doing just fine. The Bitter kerfuffle will pass. Obama's a damned strong candidate, and something as petty and idiotic as Bittergate is not going to hurt him very much. Even with Karl Rove and Rupert Murdoch working behind the scenes with Hillary to put the media in swiftboat mode, it's clear that people just aren't buying their bullshit.

So sit back, have a beer, and relax.

Victory will come. Like I said, we've already won.

Weekend at Hillary's.
Night of the Living Candidate.

If the campaign is dead, I sure wish it would go lie down.

14. Fact: Hillary's campaign will continue into PA and beyond. If it was
clearly dead, you'd have no need to post this thread, now would ya?

17. Yet we all already know the outcome.
Hillary has an insurmountable delegate deficit, and all Obama has to do is what he's been doing.

And don't think the superdelegates are buying what Hillary's selling either - they're going to swing with the voters.

it's panic time in Obamaland.

BTW, SuperDs look at electability first and foremost.

22. That's what they said about Wright, and about Rezko, and about that handshake snub.
All manufactured "scandals" all shown to be without substance, and all failing to stick.

But believe what you want to.

12. dead_cat_bounce
A dead cat bounce is a term used by traders in the finance industry to describe a pattern wherein a moderate rise in the price of a stock follows a spectacular fall, with the connotation that the rise does not indicate improving circumstances. It is derived from the notion that "even a dead cat will bounce if it falls from a great height".

13. Agreed, but...
How long will the SuperD's sit on their ass and NOT validate what you said backscatter712?

Remember, Hillary has stated she plans to take it all the way to the convention in late August.

I'll relax if the SuperD's end this dance in short order no later than the last primary in June - yet ideally after Obama's lead becomes even more insurmountable after the May 6 contests.

We need to relax! But we can't until this crazy long battle ends. With a couple of months to rest, heal, forgive, and unify - we can go to Denver as a united party.

See ya at the beach this summer - I hope. :hi:

24. That's what I'm thinking.
Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 09:37 PM by backscatter712
Party bigwigs have been making rumblings about ending the campaign for a few days now. If Hillary loses in Pennsylvania, or wins only by a narrow margin, they're gonna get the hook...

But I absolutely don't see the drama continuing more than a few days after May 20th.

That's the day of the Kentucky and Oregon primaries, and very likely, according to my estimates, the day when Obama reaches that magic number of 1627 pledged delegates and makes it mathematically impossible for Hillary to win the pledged delegate count. Trust me, it will be over very, very soon after that, if it isn't already over.

That's my worst-case scenario - primary drama continuing till the end of May. We'll still have five months of campaigning before November to thrash on McCain.

anyone doubts that. The anger is over how low Hilary has sunk by fighting the inevitable, and the potential damage to the party and the GE.

and like I said, don't sweat it.

Hillary's vicious, Rovian, dishonest campaign will go down in ignominious defeat. That's inevitable. Just grab some popcorn and watch the meltdown.
