It simply AMAZES me that Obama haters are hanging onto "bittergate"
as if it's really going to amount to anything. Let's face it, the Rev. Wright "scandal" was a LOT worse than this and Obama skated through it.

By this time next week, bittergate will be nothing but a bitter memory.

14. Yes, Wrightgate was worse than Bittergate.
Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 10:09 PM by smalll
But Wrightgate and Michellegate (never been proud, America is a mean country, the pro-separatist Princeton thesis) began to paint a picture of Obama. Bittergate completes that picture. It's not a pretty one.

He survived Wrightgate, so you might be right, he may survive Bittergate as well, for now. Even if he does though, the picture has been painted. The Repubs just need to pull it out in the general election campaign if Obama's the nominee, and it will defeat him.

Democrats have two ways out of this: Hillary could do well in the remaining contests, sway the superDs, and take the nom, OR enough superDs, Edwards delegates (there are a few) and uncommitteds (Michigan has 55, if they get seated) will abstain on the first ballot at the Convention, and we can reset this crazy campaign and pick a Gore or a Biden (or a any other plausible, experienced, ELECTABLE candidate we want.)

22. Except that the supers want to win, which is why they are migrating to Obama.
Hillary could do well in the remaining primaries, and bush could throw his own ass in jail for war crimes. The oil companies could charge less for gas. But it ain't gonna happen.

I'm not sure if you heard Reid, Pelosi, Dean, Carter, or any of the Democratic Leadership's repeated statements, but this isn't going to the convention.

No matter how hard you wish.

Obama is the greatest candidate I've seen in a couple of generations. And he knows how to organize, which is one of the big reasons he's kicking Hillary's ass.

it had better be expressed in a VERY BIG way, then be followed up by similar big expressions in the remaining primaries, because Hillary has no chance without huge wins from here on out.

We'll see. A win is a win. The supers will be looking at electability, and O can't win ANY swing states, he can't win the GE. I have no doubt Hillary's win in PA will be substantial.

50. With all due respect, you're deluded if you think the supers
are looking at Hillary as electable. Look at her poll numbers, particularly her "dislike" numbers, which have skyrocketed since she started going negative. Look at her inability to raise funds in comparison to Obama. Look at her lack of coattails. The supers know very well that Hillary has lost this and have been flooding toward Obama. Even if she pulls off a win in PA, she has no chance of winning the nomination and certainly not the GE.

It's over. She just hasn't admitted it yet.

56. What's anti-democratic about
wanting someone who is suited for the office of President to be elected?

This campaign has taught us a lot about people and the levels to which they will stoop in order to clinch a primary, even when they have no statistical support, no popular support and no delegate support. The more Hillary refuses to accept reality, the more she reminds me of George Bush. Is that really the kind of person you want for President?

I, frankly, am TIRED after eight destructive years and would really like to see a change not just in policy, but in attitude. I don't see that coming from Clinton and her supporters.
