Question for those who were here for 2004 Election

What was the atmosphere here after the Dean Scream and then the Kerry "I voted for it before I voted against" framed as a flip flop and then the swift boating.


Was it as angry, defensive and hostile?

1. Nothing that happened then

comes anywhere close to what's happening now.

Kerry pretty much sealed the deal in Iowa. The subsequent primaries were just a formality. There were hopes but everyone pretty much knew the reality.

Most of the hostilty came before Iowa. It was angry and hostile but it didn't really last that long and most everyone got behind Kerry pretty quickly.

THis time it's so much worse. I don't remember anything resembling the nastiness we have now.

But I would say... Obama pretty much sealed the deal in Wisconsin. The subsequent primaries have been (and will continue to be) a formality.

Hillary folk have hopes... but deep down, they know the reality as well.


If it weren't for the reprehensible human being that Hillary Clinton has revealed herself to be, this would be over and everyone would be rallying behind Obama already.

8. Except he doesn't have the

delegates. He's ahead but he still doesn't have the delegates. People sort of fell in line behind Kerry so the delegate count got to "winner" way before now.

It may be a technicality but that is what is driving this race and will continue to do so until someone reached that magic number.

4. nothing like this

First off the primary season itself was very short. Kerry had it all locked up by Super Tues, even before then. The anger level rose from Iowa caucus night when Dean made his yell to New Hampshire where he got trounced and then died off almost totally. The tone was also not hysterical like this time even at the height. People focused a lot on their hatred of Bush also.

This time Bush is not running, the hate level for McCain is just nowhere near as high and we have 2 candidates still going at it. Its 1000 times worse this time. Thats why many of us don't even come here anymore. I check in this part of the site once a week or so. I don't read the nasty stuff anymore. Why bother? Its not going to help settle anything.

I like the video, breaking news and general sections these days. Much better place to hang around.

We might have disagreed with Kerry on the issues, but never hated him. Heck, we even voted for him because Bush was Hitler.

The Clintons, I hate and loath them as much as I do McCain.

5. Nothing has compared to this , I think this is as bad as I have

ever seen in any where. I have been here since 2002, I was a staunched Kerry supporter, because her was the Nominee, but it has become so negative now that it seems more like Freerepublic. I am ashamed to be called a Democrat anymore,
I think we have become what they are, and I don't want to be that. We no longer support the
Dem. values.

7. Nope, because when Dean realized that he could not win the nomination,

he dropped out and leant his support to Kerry.. he did not stalk him from state to state, sticking knives into his back , and then crying about how unfair Kerry was to him..and how he was picking on him because he was a doctor...or short..

9. When it became obvious that Kerry was going to be the nominee,

everyone got on board. There was no sense of entitlement from Dean like there is from Clinton. For some reason she thinks she's owed the nomination, as do her supporters.

Except through the lens of his campaign's talking points.

He made some damaging statements and actions that would ultimately doom his candidacy, however many people refused to recognize their significance.

This led a lot of people here in the Kerry echo-chamber to be very surprised when he lost.
