If Obama's middle name is brought up again, here's what ALL Democrats must say: |
|
1. He's NOT a Muslim.
2. It wouldn't matter if he was, since MOST Muslims are just ordinary, harmless people living quiet lives like everybody else.
There's NO Excuse for any Democrat bashing Obama on the middle name. To do so is to surrender to hate.

1. And it was his grandfather's name. |
|
Barack was his dad's name too--so what is more normal than a boy being named for his father and grandfather?

2. It also shows extreme ignorance |
|
Either that, or it's a deliberate attempt to stir up xenophobic reactions.
'Hussein' is a VERY common name throughout the world. One of our staunchest allies in the Middle East is King Hussein of Jordan.

9. Well he shouldn't have linked his name |
|
that's unfair, but if this is true, Obama's got more worries than someone misusing his middle name:
"Here’s the bottomline. Auchi, who some claim was a money man for Saddam Hussein, sent money to the Rezko family. Said funds in turn were used by Tony Rezko’s wife to help the Obama’s buy their house (she paid for a vacant lot that enabled the Obama’s to qualify for the loan they could afford at the time).
Susan UnPC put up a great story on the Auchi-Rezko-Obama ties in February. And we already know, thanks to the Times of London, that Auchi’s Panamanian company sent money into Obama’s political coffers. At a minimum, looks like Barack has got some more “splaining” to do."

25. This is a typical smear |
|
At least (most of) the mainstream media vetts its sources completely before publishing something like this. I hope Larry Johnson and Taylor Marsh carry liability insurance in case someone wants to sue them for libel someday.

24. My problem is with the phrase "some claim" |
|
All too often it's used as a way to get a smear in on a candidate. Turd-blossom or a surrogate would leek some untrue rumor "off the record" to a reporter, who would publish it, which in turn would allow the leaker to claim "some people say". I don't want to develop a knee-jerk reaction to the phrase, but it does make me reach for the bullshit detector.

15. Your camp is using the idea that the GOP will bring it up again as a case to stop the Obama movement |
|
and impose your candidate instead. That's why.
HRC needs to stand up and say that Obama's middle name shouldn't be an issue. She owes the party that.

22. Stop the Obama movement! |
|
He's a politician running for office, he's not the Dali Lama for godssakes. The GOP WILL use it against him, they'll use his past cocaine use, they'll use William Ayers, and Jeremiah Wright, the New Black Panthers, lapel flag pins, they'll use God Damn America, they'll use Michelle's "first time I'm proud" comment. They're RWers and they'll use anything.
Hillary doesn't have to protect Obama from the GOP using his own middle name. She's not his mother. If that's all it takes for my candidate to impose herself on the country, I'd say that Obama should step down now and spare us all the drama.

32. Obama's the candidate who brought new people into the party. |
|
Edited on Tue Apr-15-08 12:02 PM by Ken Burch
Those new people need to be encouraged and kept in. Destroying their candidate is the same thing as saying we don't want them. They aren't going to back your candidate if she's imposed as if the nomination was just hers by liege right.
It's about the new blood. Only one campaign this year brought new people in. We can't win on just the old-timer(a group which includes me).
The HRC campaign's arguement for staying in (the "the bashing HELPS the party" lie) sometimes sounds like stuff Martha said to George in WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? "You can stand it...you married me for it!".
If your candidate is nominated, young people will all feel like they did when Humphrey was forced through in Chicago. Don't you understand that we can't afford that?

Amazingly that puts them on the defensive, except the true Bushites who cannot comprehend the contradiction of their attacks. (but they are clearly morons anyways.)
