How easily some Obama's supporters demand that Barack's 'clumsy mis-statements' or exaggerations be excused... but when Hillary mispeaks or exaggerates, she is immediately denounced as something akin to a lying harlot or reprobate. How many hundreds of posts have we seen about Hillary's 'sniper fire' exaggeration?
Some Obama supporters have grown quite fond of never missing the opportunity to call Hillary a pathological liar. Yet, it doesn't take much investigation to discover a few whoppers by 'his holiness' himself.
For example:
While speaking to a group in Selma, Barack was obviously trying to polish his Kennedy Camelot/ civil-rights image, so he bragged that the Kennedy administration sponsored his Kenyan father to come to America on a student scholarship, which sponsorship in effect made them responsible for his being here in the first place. He made one small omission... the first Selma march occurred in March 1965, some 3 years after Obama was born.
A spokesman for Obama later apologized for Barack's mis-statement.
A speech Obama gave at the time: “There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Alabama, because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they got together and Barack Obama Junior was born. So don’t tell me I don’t have a claim on Selma, Alabama.”
So, people, what should we do? Start making lists of all the petty foibles of our favorite candidates? Keep flinging crap, trying to one-up the other guy?
Just for the record: I like Obama. However, he is arrogant, but I don't mind arrogance in my leaders. Believe it or not, I do see Hillary's faults. But I cringe when I witness the outright bullshit I see written about her on DU. When you want to do somebody in, it's very easy to focus on every wart and pimple. There sure is enough of them. Oddly enough, I might have been willing to listen to some of Obama's supporters in their complaints about Hillary if just ONCE IN A WHILE they said something DECENT about her. NOBODY can be as bad as she is painted here by some Obama supporters. What's sad is, I am truly becoming numb to all the vitriol expressed here. You know what's funny? I have seen greater hate expressed here towards Hillary than I have ever seen aimed towards ole Georgie himself. P-a-t-h-e-t-i-c.
Now, before you go and pluck some arrows out of your quivvers for the kill, for whatever it's worth, I fully realize that 98% of the Obama supporters here are basically very decent people who are all excited about their shiny new candidate. I don't blame you. It would be nice if you could extend me the same courtesy and allow me the joy of being excited about mine. If Obama wins, I'll be a bit miffed, but I will also be happy for you because I honestly do have a sense of what you see in him. Just because I like Hillary, it does not mean I don't like Obama.
Just remember this... If your house is burning down, you don't walk over to the new guy and teach him how to hold a fire hose... You run over to the worker with grit under his nails... the one who's not afraid of the heat and is already running up the ladder to put out the fire.
