Latest 'tin foil hat' theorey: No one wants to win the election
I had lunch last week with a friend who's somewhat given to conspiracy theories. He brought up something that I first dismissed out-of-hand, but the more I've thought about it, the more I wonder.

Basically, he suggests that neither party really wants to win the White House this year. The reason: the economy is about to take a turn that is far worse than the media is suggesting ... something akin to The Great Depression v2.0. As a result, neither party wants to be sitting in the White House because whoever wins will be blamed for the coming collapse.

He cited a lot of economic factors (which I really didn't follow) to support his claim, then he added that we had never seen so many serious political gaffes by candidates in both parties as "proof" that both parties are planning to lose and let the other party take the blame. Why else would the GOP select a candidate who is so unacceptable to the religious base of the party, he said. And why do the two Democratic front runners seem to be intent on the a policy of mutually assured destruction that seem to be dividing the party?

I'm not ready to buy into my friend's theory, but after watching the news over the past week it does provide something to think about.

2. Your friend is right.
Whoever win will get tagged with a disaster that's just
now unfolding.
