LIEBERMAN: Please LEAVE
Back in 2006, Barack Obama endorsed Joe Lieberman during the primary race:

http://www.talkleft.com/story/2006/04/02/164/90446

"I know that some in the party have differences with Joe," Senator Obama said, all but silencing the crowd. "I'm going to go ahead and say it. It's the elephant in the room. And Joe and I don't agree on everything. But what I know is, Joe Lieberman's a man with a good heart, with a keen intellect, who cares about the working families of America."

Then, with applause beginning to build, he finished the thought: "I am absolutely certain that Connecticut's going to have the good sense to send Joe Lieberman back to the United States Senate." That time, people cheered loudly.

How does Lieberman repay him?

NAPOLITANO: Hey Sen. Lieberman, you know Barack Obama, is he a Marxist as Bill Kristol says might be the case in today’s New York Times? Is he an elitist like your colleague Hillary Clinton says he is?

LIEBERMAN: Well, you know, I must say that’s a good question. I know him now for a little more than three years since he came into the Senate and he’s obviously very smart and he’s a good guy. I will tell ya that during this campaign, I’ve learned some things about him, about the kind of environment from which he came ideologically. And I wouldn’t … I’d hesitate to say he’s a Marxist, but he’s got some positions that are far to the left of me and I think mainstream America.

Joe Lieberman, you backstabbing piece of shit, get the fuck outta my party.

No more of this "independent Democrat" bullshit from anybody in the actual Democratic Party. I know he can't be stripped of his position in the Senate due to the rules that were passed at the beginning of this Congress. But people could get out there and make it clear that Joe Lieberman runs in a weasel pack of one these days.

14. No it's not.
Lieberman has endorsed McCain and Hillary is borrowing his talking points.

IMO, that puts Lieberman and Hillary on the same team...McCain's.

6. After the 2008 election, Lieberman should not be permitted to caucus with the Democrats.
I assume that the Democrats will pick up a few Senate seats, so Lieberman's caucusing will not be needed. Endorsing McCain, the REPUBLICAN candidate, was the final treacherous cut which shows Lieberman to be the Republican wolf disguised in a Democratic sheep's wool all these years.

15. Obama should have listened to us then.
I remember his dailykos post explaining why we were being unreasonable for wanted the traitor expelled from his position as "conscious of the Party". His blindness left a bad impression on me, and I didn't start to like him again until fairly recently because of it. He's not alone in his mistake, though. Around that time I was arguing against running a primary against Hillary because I thought taking down Lieberman was a big enough signal that we demand change. I figured that Hillary, being a seasoned and intelligent politician, would see the way that the wind was blowing and fall in line. I thought she was a good Democrat, and even with all of her and her husband's failings, I thought they were "good guys". What a difference a few years make.

16. Did any incumbent Senators endorse Lamont in the primary?
Most of them, including Obama, endorsed Lamont once he was the Democratic nominee. (Even then, though, there were a few turncoats.)

I don't remember any incumbent Senators coming out against Lieberman before the primary. The Senate is well known to be a clubby institution. Barbara Boxer endorsed Lieberman. The best of the bunch, as far as I know, was Russ Feingold, who stayed neutral.

Reading Lieberman out of the party is one thing. If you also want to purge everyone who endorsed him, we're going to be left with a mighty small caucus.
