The Counterattack - Obama: Candidates who don't see bitterness 'out of touch'
Edited on Tue Apr-15-08 12:09 PM by rndmprsn
so just WHO is out of touch?

hint (clinton and john W mccain)

http://thehill.com/campaign-2008/obama-candidates-who-dont-see-bitterness-out-of-touch-2008-04-15.html

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), entering into the fifth day since his controversial remarks about small towns surfaced, told union workers Tuesday that politicians who do not see bitterness in those parts of the country are “out of touch.”...

...“If anybody denies that people are frustrated and angry and, yes, sometimes bitter, then they are out of touch,” Obama said.

The Illinois senator added that anger and bitterness have to be tied to hopefulness in order to achieve results.

“If you’re not angry about something, then you're going to sit back and let it happen to you,” Obama said. “I’m mad, but I’m also hopeful.”

Clinton fiendishly attacking on this point...it hasn't worked either

1. A great opening for a populist message....
Let them keep on the "bitter" comments. It appears Obama is going to use it to counter attack. I think the tiem is ripe for a populist message. People are pissed. People are bitter. People are frustrated at the lack of action of the government. This is giving Obama a winning message.

2. It's a mistake to pretend people aren't bitter.
The Clintons herd the mis/uninformed with their lies, a technique GOP-inspired.

Back speaks to people like they are thinking adults.

Americans need to decide if they want to be patronized and used by the Clintons, or lifted up by Barack.

5. Clinton and her people are fools for this line of attack...
There are too many of us bitter and struggling who are clinging to family and faith in these troubled times. Stupid, stupid, stupid...

7. Are any candidates saying people are not bitter?
I think it was the stereotyping and condescension that people had a problem with.

8. It's a slick and disingenuous angle -- but a good one for Sen. Obama

We all know it's really about the comments following the "bitter" remark. But given a complicit media, I do see this as the best way forward for Obama.

20. I don't care about Obama vs. Hillary
The safe assumption is that Obama will get the nod. I am worried about Obama vs. McCain. The 527 groups will have a field day with this.

9. Duh.
It's about time we dropped the faux patriotism and acknowledged the pain Americans are feeling.

11. People are fed up with his manipulations...
twisting words around. He said what he said - connecting bitterness to clinging to church, guns, and bigotry. He can wiggle all he wants - not going to change what he said. He was out of touch in San Francisco, and he's out of touch today.

16. There has been no effect on the polls
So what does he need to "wiggle" out of?

Obama is not the one getting booed...Hillary is. Chew on that for a bit before you bang the pot again.

18. Sweet Jeebus. He said the right-wing wedge issues *have worked*.
Then he listed some wedge issues.

Do you deny that these wedge issued have been working (for the repukes)?

Do you think it's better to just pretend that the right-wing wedge issues don't exist or are ineffective?

Do you think it's better to buy into the framing that the right-wing wedge issues establish?

WTF is wrong with people?
