150. 58% of Americans in new poll don't trust Hillary Clinton |
|
Hillary has bigger problems - a majority of the people don't trust her, according to a new poll just out.
Clinton is viewed as "honest and trustworthy" by just 39 percent of Americans, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll, compared with 52 percent in May 2006. Nearly six in 10 said in the new poll that she is not honest and trustworthy. And now, compared with Obama, Clinton has a deep trust deficit among Democrats, trailing him by 23 points as the more honest, an area on which she once led both Obama and John Edwards.
The poll also found 54% of the people scored Hillary unfavorably and 62% of Democrats polled think Obama is better able to win in November.
Ouch! Hillary is definitely looking less "electable."

44. Of course Hillary and Bill are the consummate version |
|
of a political slick car salesman (and I should no I used to be one 10 years ago, and a good one I might add).
The problem you would have buying a car from them as a salesperson is that they would SLAM you big time (in car sales slang to slam is to take advantage of a customer to get them to pay as much as they can for a vehicle there by driving up a salesman commission at their expense. It is a offensive way to do business to most other salespeople that prefer a somewhat more ethical way to make a pay check. Salespeople who slammed did not last long at a dealership).
As with any thing that has to do with the Clinton's; don't turn your back on them, and hang on to your wallet.

but just as with a slick car salesperson, there was a hiden cost (Slam) to this (for instance the GOP gaining control of the House and Senate, and the assorted scandals, nor all of which were the GOP's fault - think Filegate, and Travelgate, and Monica)
So yes all was well for the 90% part but yuch that 10%!!

61. I have always found the argument that Bill Clinton cost us |
|
the House and Senate to be bogus.
We lost the House during the Gingrich years because Clinton in his first two years tried to move to quickly to the left. Hillary's "socialist" health care attempt. Trying to let gays in the military (which resulted in the "don't ask don't tell" compromise that pleased no one). Rescinding Reagan's tax cuts for the wealthy (which the press tagged as a tax increase - and this alone lost many Democrats their seats. Remember, that legislation passed without a single Republican vote).
We lost the Senate because of the continuation of the trend of the conservative Democratic south switching over to a conservative Republican south. Something that had been happening since the days of LBJ. It continued into the Bush years, where, in three elections - a complete Senate cycle, the Democratic Party went from a slight advantage to a 10 seat deficit despite getting 5 million more total votes than the Republicans.

106. How was Clinton's presidency the 'most successful of your lifetime'? |
|
What did Bill Clinton acheive as president that has had long-lasting and positive benefits for the US? The economy was good under Clinton, but he was lucky; he isn't responsible for the tech boom (which was an economic bubble of overinvestment and not a long-term stable situation), which largely fuelled the '90's economy. He wasn't really responsible for much of anything. He did little, and took credit for much. He was a relatively mediocre president, in historical terms; his administration acheived nothing of lasting significance, and he looks good in comparison to his predecessor and successor (the elder and junior Bushes), but Bush the elder was an even more mediocre president, and Bush the lesser is an historical failure on the level of Buchanan, Grant and Harding.

170. the DLC, in a conservative state like Colorado,where I live |
|
is responsible for many of the gains we (by we, I mean the Democratic Party) have made in turning this state from red to blue over the last few election cycles. That includes picking up a Senate seat, two house seats, the state legislature (both houses) and the Govornorship. Almost all of candidates responsible for this turnaround are DLC or even more conservative (3rd way, blue dog). Colorado has the highest number of elected DLC members through all levels of government of any state in the union.
This is the primary reason I support the DLC - not that I necessarily approve of all of these candidates, but because they are a hell of a lot better than the religious right wing whackos whose places they took.
A lot of you progressive folks really don't seem to understand that most of the country isn't as liberal as you would like it to be.

if you want to know why there were no long lasting benefits, you need look no further than the current occupant of the White House and the Republican Congress that enabled him.
Bush set out from the get go to tear apart everything Clinton had accomplished. We're living with the results of that now.
Your argument is akin to blaming the wife for getting beat up by her husband.

In Hillary world, if you're smart and elegant then it's seen as a negative. This is why it surprises me the some of you aren't really George Bush fans since he could never be described as either.

That one's lined up for broadcast. You can tell because it's got the 'I approved this ad' tag.
From right after the debate until Monday midnight, massive ad buy, statewide. Bank it.

My prediction is this:
In Philly: Obama 80, Clinton 20
In Philly suburbs: Obama 60, Clinton 40
In Pittsburgh: Obama 55, Clinton 45
In Pittsburgh suburbs: Obama 50, Clinton 50
In Erie: Obama 50, Clinton 50
Everywhere else: Clinton 60, Obama 40
The key will be.... does turnout in Philly and its suburbs trump the rural center of the state.

And when you say that these are recitations of the facts (which is false) what you are saying is that he is RIGHT to be running a campaign of personal destruction, not that he isn't running one.

>>>He has said that she will say or do anything to win and he has said that she wants to use race to scare and divide us.<<<
Her speeches and remarks as well as those who are part of the campaign (Bill and her staff) prove both of those statements to be very true. When she stated that McCain was the better choice for CIC over Obama, when she has lied about Bosnia, the list goes on and on.
It is too bad that you can't see these things. It will make your bitterness and disappointment worse when you find out that she has been leading you along.

|
Make it look like she is attacking him. He claims that she is all about power and has been running for president since she was seven. Then she defends herself from his campaign of personal destruction by pointing out that he wrote a paper in kindergarten talking about wanting to be president. And she is skewered for "the kindergarten attack." Total BS by a totally biased media.

149. Clintons - cultural scab pickers, gonifs of harmony |
|
I am seeing the Clinton machine in PA basically whip up a smorgasbord of cover stories to promote people voting against a black candidate. This hits me in the gut like a ball bat. So as Hispanics rise in demographic power do we abandon our Jewish Democrats next and go where the juicier vote count is? We are not Pandercrats, who surf on one of our treasured minority parts to crush another. We are not going to turn on our Hispanics, Blacks, Jews, or other elements so we can "win this time". This is the surefire way for a loss of the greatest attribute our party has or ever will have, we are inclusive.
Democrats give everyone a voice and they are careful and diligent in not behaving, even in whispers and innuendo, that any one of our treasured ethnic, religious, or racial voices can never rise to leadership of the party, or can be abandoned or kicked to the curb to insure a victory for a person, at the loss of savor for the party.
I do not want a surrogate Jewish, Black, Hispanic, etc. candidate when their are perfectly good candidates to elevate in our party who are the real genuine article.

154. I'm not seeing the same ad as all of you. Where is it? |
|
The one I saw just has still pics of Clinton. It's in the 3rd post down and the text is something like this:
ANNCR: Across Pennsylvania families are struggling. What's Hillary Clinton's answer? The same old politics. Misleading negative ads. The truth? It's Barack Obama who's taken on the oil companies, worked to strip away their tax breaks as they run up record profits, and demanded higher gas mileage standards. And Obama's the only candidate who doesn't take a dime from oil company PACs or lobbyists. And that's change we can believe in.
