I just saw Joe Biden on Countdown...I'm glad he's on my side...
...and I say that, not just as a Democrat, but as an American.

3. He's a true patriot --
and although I'm still really disappointed he won't be our next Prez, I've said many times that I feel comforted knowing he's back in Washington fighting the good fight for all of us.

I really admire and respect him.

10. well, I agree with your title, but
:toast:

But I doubt it - he's 65 - in 8 years, he'll be older than McCain.

That's why I would have liked to see Biden / Obama as a ticket. :(

11. True, but everybody keeps telling me "hope" solves everything
What? I gotta be realistic?

I'd be pleased just to see either Hillary or Obama take up his plan for Iraq at this point

12. Realism got tossed out after Iowa I guess
(Dodd, Biden)

Biden's plan would have made a difference already - the worse things fall in Iraq, the harder it will be to have any plan succeed.

By the way, love your sig line. :D

16. You're right --
can you imagine where we'd be in Iraq now if his plan had been implemented when it was passed? :grr:

14. Not as simple as that.
Biden, being the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee was in a meeting with Bsh, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Colin Powell...and the other usual suspects.

Biden was not going to vote for the IWR. They were trying to talk him into it, why they needed his support. Biden told bsh that the only way he would vote for this is if bsh promised him that he would let the inspectors finish their job; go to to UN and only go to war as a last resort.
Bsh looked Biden right in the eye and promised Biden he would do all that.

Biden's mistake? For believing bsh - and Biden will be the first one to tell you that.

17. regardless of that, I think the OP was talking about Biden taking on McCain
which is a valuable thing even if you hate Biden for that vote.
