60. Don't EVER conflate opposing the war with being a "single-issue voter."
Everyone knows the term "single-issue voters" typically refers to those "values voters" who vote Republican based on wedge issues like abortion and gay marriage. This is NOT the same thing, so don't say that it is.

Your candidate is smart, she KNEW good and well that Bu$h and his cronies were lying about the cause for war, and she went ahead and voted for it anyway, because she knew it would make her look tough on defense for her already-planned 2008 presidential run. She was a vocal supporter of the war for years, until she announced she was running for president and realized the war wasn't popular anymore. In the meantime, 4000+ troops and millions of Iraqis have DIED for absolutely nothing.

I will never vote for this woman, ever. If that makes me "disloyal to the Democrats," fine, because if the party makes the statement that she is the kind of candidate that they're willing to run in the GE, then I apparently don't belong in the Democratic Party, and neither does any other true progressive.

I'm not a "single-issue voter." I just happen to recognize two simple truths:

Number one: the war has to stop. This should be the single biggest priority for the nation right now. Not gas prices, not gay marriage, not abortion, not the economy, not mortgages and foreclosures or any of that. NONE of that is as important as putting a stop to the senseless killing of innocent people in the name of lies.

Number two: Hillary has been on the wrong side of this issue for too long. She has no credibility to speak against the war, and her recent posturing, trying to make like she's been a leader on this issue, is laughable. If she would've apologized for her vote, like every other credible Senator who voted for the war already has, then she might have some credibility, but as it stands (months of pointedly refusing to apologize), the damage is done. Simply put, her record on this issue is reason #1 why Hillary Clinton does not deserve to be president.

I also agree with the PP on the IWR, but also RW smear tactics and a serious issue with telling the truth come to mind. And not just little lies - but lying about shit that doesn't even warrant it in the least... Like sniper fire?!?!?

Edited on Tue Apr-15-08 09:32 PM by BigBearJohn
Some Obama supporters said "instead of just attacking Obama,
why don't you post some reasons you are voting for Hillary?"

So, I did. If you want to attack, go ahead, but why don't you
do something positive like starting your own thread about all
the reasons a person should vote for Obama... who knows? Maybe
you might convert me.

23. I'm sorry you find adding her "accomplishments" to your list at issue.
Unless, of course, you don't want to be truthful and would prefer to blow sunshine up peoples' keisters. Most people want to see the WHOLE PICTURE, not just rainbows and baskets of kittens and puffed-up resumes. But, hey, you go on with your bad self and pretend the truth of my additions to your list doesn't exist. Mum's the word.

62. You're missing the point. I am aware of her faults. People asked for positive
reasons to vote FOR her.

Both you and I can get into a pissing contest to see
whose candidates has the most faults. But that was NOT
the purpose of this post.

People have said to me, "Why don't you post the reasons
you are voting for Hillary?" THAT IS WHAT I POSTED.
This post lists the reasons I am voting for Hillary.
I'm sure most of you Obama supporters are quite
familiar with Hillary's faults. I don't need to post
them. I was asked for her positives, so I posted them.

If you create a post of all the wonderful reasons I
should vote for Obama, I will not shoot you down.
I will read it.

thats why she supported a candidate that was against civil rights act?

49. No I think Hillary doing fine by her self
The life that Hugh and Dorothy created for Hillary and her two brothers was a classic 1950s middle-class suburban childhood. Park Ridge in those days was the kind of place where everyone left their doors unlocked and the neighborhood kids all played on the block together. Hillary was a Brownie and then a Girl Scout. She started her political life as a Republican, like her father. She even volunteered as a Goldwater girl!

She wanted to work in the system. It says a lot about her institutional top-down mindset compared to Obama's movement activist background.

43. Do you know what's wrong with this OP?
Nothing.

Do you know what's wrong with the Clinton campaign?:

1) In over a year the Clinton campaign they have virtually convinced no one that they didn't already own

2) Rather than running on this record, rather than finding away to just get Hillary out there they tried 'packaging her'. Going to Bosnia wasn't good enough she had to dodge sniper fire. In their eyes this list isn't good enough she had to do it while doing other super human things.

3) Unable to find a theme they desperately hope that Obama will make some little misstep so that they can jump on it.

Six months ago McCain was dead in the water. Low in the polls and broke he shucked it all and went into gymnasium after gymnasium and had candidate forums and took on all questions. Hillary wouldn't take questions, then she planted them.

Hillary Rodham Clinton never had enough confidence in this list to just go out and let it all hang out and take it on one on one with the American people. And now, many of the people like you, have a deep abiding loathing of Obama because Hillary Clinton didn't posses enough self confidence at an existential level to take away all of the packaging and lay herself out bare.

If you and Bigtree had been in charge of her media and policy issues right now Obama would be endorsing HRC and we would be looking at 16 years of strong democratic leadership. Unfortunately its her fault that we are now locked in a bitter civil war which she has in fact lost.

She is not who many here think she is. They have developed a caricature that has no basis in reality. Thanks for posting this bit of reality.

52. This is interesting. Just looked up the first thing listed
Edited on Tue Apr-15-08 10:50 PM by Quixote1818

Arkansas schools were "at the bottom of the barrel" when Hillary Clinton left Arkansas for Washington, Lazio said. That caused her to respond, "I'm not here to defend Arkansas. I'm here to run for the Senate to represent New York."

"But that's your record," responded Lazio.

http://archives.cnn.com/2000/ALLPOLITICS/stories/10/27/ny.debate/index.html

If she made Arkansas schools into such great roll models, why didn't she defend Lazio's attack?

So, Arkansas was #50 in Public Schools. What was it after she left? I searched all over the place and couldn't find the results.

Anyway, after just looking up the first thing on this list. It seems like they embellished things in a big way. What a big surprise.

I'm sorry that some people have the mistaken impression that this is an either/or decision.
Is that one an accomplishment or some kind of snide slam at Obama?

55. Hydrogen vehicles are a coal industry distraction and Obama has a better LCV rating.
I guess if you want someone with a less impressive environmental record than Obama then that's your choice.

57. Note the list doesn't include helped to "create" and "design" SCHIP, opposed NAFTA
because those would be false.

They would be a part of the pattern of lies and distortion that have characterized Hillary's campaign.

Obama's record is equal or better on many of those issues, minus the lies.

While I hope she doesn't win the nom - and I'm pretty sure she can't at this late stage - it's nice to see a positive post about the senator. Good on you for posting this.
