To all those threatening to vote for McCain if their nominee doesn't win...
I understand that tempers are running pretty high right now, and a lot of people are saying things that the either don't mean or will regret later, but let's just step back for a moment and look at an issue that is at least as important as who's going be the President for the next four years: The judicial appointments that the next President will make.

John McCain voted for and was a big-time supporter of Robert Bork, possibly the worst nominee for the Supreme Court since Nixon nominated Carswell, who was actually a white supremacist. John McCain voted for Clarence Thomas. And he doesn't just vote for "strict constructionist" wingnuts - He believes they're the only people qualified to be on the Supreme Court. I don't trust the Senate - even a Democratic controlled Senate to stand up to him on this issue. I firmly believe a McCain presidency has the potential to create decades of lasting damage in this respect, and for that reason alone I cannot fathom why anyone who even vaguely thinks of themselves as progressive could support him.

1. For me, that's the worst part of this election season.
I very much prefer one of the dem candidates over the other, but if that person doesn't get the nomination, I sure as hell won't be voting for McCain.

This is the truth, and I will vote for Clinton or Obama for the above reason.
..............and it really is that simple.

9. Unfortunately, a large percentage of the electorate are blithering idiots.
How else do we explain this?

5. Frankly, those who say that are in violation of DU rules
and I wish they would be banned. Sorry that's harsh, but I'm sick of coming here and reading all of the acrimony. This board has become Karl Rove's delight -- he doesn't need to lift a finger.

7. The vast majority of them are Obama supporters
I know some Clinton supporters have said it too, but I have seen way more Obama supporters say this. What kind of democrat says such a thing? Idiots?

8. That's probably because the vast majority of people on this board are Obama supporters.
But people on both sides do it. If you go read the Hillary forums there are plenty of people on them saying they'll vote for McCain, too.
