Why we must all push the term "Mole Hill Politics"

I first saw this term used at Daily Kos. As George Orwell understood, you need to have words that express ideas. In this case, if the term Mole Hill Politics can be brought into the main stream, faux outrage attacks will lose their effectiveness. Rather than waste time arguing over some insubstantial point, you can dismiss the attacker as shamefully engaging in Mole Hill Politics.


The beauty of the term is it's simplicity and the imagine it readily creates (making a Mountain out of a mole hill).

Think of it, had this term been in our nation's vocabulary it could have been used to dismiss the outrage of Kerry mentioning that Cheney had a gay daughter. It could have been used when Kerry was attacked over his botched joke.

As you have all seen faux outrage has become a bread and butter tactic of the right wingnuts. If we all push to get this term "mole hill politics" into our nations vocabulary and they lose one of their favorite tactics.

Toss it around on various internet forums and when talking politics with people. DU is a pretty large body of very active people. If this group were to put it's mind to it, this term could go main stream. WORDS are power and it's about time we started using them, instead of being abused by them.
