And please, Clinton supporters, let me add that I do admire the Clintons. I'm not going to fall for the far right wing spin, and I still love the Big Dawg. Many Obama supporters bring out NAFTA and other unpopular positions Clinton took in the 90's. NAFTA, in particular, was going to happen no matter what, unless that nut Perot had been elected. Well, I digress.
Some Clinton supporters may say I'm buying into the "right wing spin." That is far from the truth. My perceptions are coming from observation on my part and hitting as many unbiased reports as possible. I truly believe this has become an unhealthy obsession for not only Hillary, but Bill as well. I see them desperately trying to pull every string as possible. I'll admit, seeing Hillary take the shot of Crown was amazing, but also an act of desperation to try and "connect" with the common man (even though many common people I meet couldn't afford a shot of Crown at a bar).
Point is, it's time for the Clinton's to realize that they have a very tough hill to climb, and the overwhelming odds are that they aren't going to make it. I do love the fact that they are fighters, but their fighting right now just seems to be hurting our party as we go into the month of May with possibly still not having our candidate chosen.
Most importantly, I want us to win. Whether it's Clinton or Obama, at this point I don't care. But Obama, imho, has the momentum and the message that seems to resonate with people. I know it's wrong, but the Clintons do have baggage, and it would be a bloody, close election. I think the American people would find a young, good looking, articulate (yes, I said it) man as our next leader. Unfortunately, sometimes the charisma and beauty pageant quality helps determine who's president. Obama, in my opinion, has the qualities to lead and bring a sense of hope not only to our nation, but to the world as well. And imagine a debate between Obama and McCain - jeez, no contest.
Just remember that I was an ardent Edwards' supporter, and I believe he was the man with the right message. But I also know that we can't have another Republican in the Oval Office. I couldn't bear that thought. And I will support whoever our candidate it. And it's time for Senator Clinton to look to the best interests of the party (and our nation) and gratefully bow out so that we can all get behind one candidate. My support is now Obama, and he will lead us to greater things.
Oh, and Clinton supporters, I respect you and your passion for your candidate. This is in no way a blast at ya'll at all. This is America, and you are entitled to continue to fight for your candidate. I just think it's time for us to get behind one candidate, and Obama will be that candidate.
Thanks for reading.
