Karen Heller: WIP's snickers at Clinton underscore gender gap
http://www.philly.com/philly/entertainment/17799164.html

Oh, the guys were going at her. The other morning on sports radio, the station that calls grown women "girls," they were talking about Hillary Clinton.

Specifically, how she didn't turn them on and, graphically, how a certain body part flatlined in response.

She's a United States senator. She's the first viable female presidential candidate. And the boys are talking about whether she's hot.

As if they would find any 60-year-old woman hot.

3. The "boys" should keep their mouths shut about Hillary
Those sexist comments hurt Obama with Dems and, in the long run, help McCain.

I've said all along that Obama needs Hillary supporters and everyone who wants to see Obama in the White House should remember that.

Anyone on this board tempted to make freeper-like comments should direct them against McCain. He's the only opponent who really counts (assuming you want Obama to be President).

5. That IS sexism
Many charges of sexism have been filed on this board, but this one sticks. And stinks. She's not running to be Playmate of the Month, she's running for President.

It's flagrant, blatant sexism of the most graphic sort. Anyone who can't see that has serious fucking problems.

34. Obviously these guys are total assholes.
And this is sexism at its most disgusting. Many of the claims of sexism I have not agreed with. This however, is not only sexist... but just plain rude and disrespectful.

IMHO, they should be fired. But only AFTER a public apology.

32. You don't know me
or anything about me or the causes I have supported. Just because I don't get outraged at what happens on stupid sports Radio Shows doesn't make me what your inferring. Howard Eskin verges on the line of race baiting in the afternoon and makes tons of questional comments all the time. He makes more sexist comments than these dolts but Hillary appears on his show with no questions asked because he likes her. I once listened to these idiots for about a month in March and than gave up on both of them. 950 here actually talks about sports when I drive to work.

20. Double standard?
Hillary sat on her ass while a politician called Obama a boy, she didn't say a word. I know the guy apologized for it but that was a prime opportunity for her to display some type of leadership. She also hasn't said a word about her supporter Bob Johnson who said that Obama is where he is because of his skin color. Why hasn't she come out and say she does not agree? She hasn't said a word yet and this guy is a top supporter of Hillary. His name was one of the names on the black mail letter that was sent to the DNC. I guess it is only an "issue" when it comes to Hillary and sexism, not surprising.

31. Obama sat on his ass while a McCain supporter called Hillary a bitch.
Honestly, it does no one any good to get involved in a pissing contest with a skunk.

Besides, you would have accused her of pandering. Half of Obama's supporters claim she's racist, which is the underlying theme of Obama's campaign against Hillary.

35. You don't a damn thing about me
So take your accusations of pandering elsewhere. I have never, ever, said that Clinton was racist so take that elsewhere as well. The OP wants to come on here and paint Obama as an apologist for sexism it wasn't me (an Obama supporter) who claiming otherwise. I see all you can come up with is Hillary being called a bitch. It seems that since Hillary is kissing the ass of McCain (her good friend says Bill Clinton) then McCain should of been the one to come out and denounced his supporter calling Hillary a bitch. I guess Hillary didn't care though considering McCain is her friend and all. Should Obama come out and ask McCain to apologize for calling Chelsea a dog? Or has Hillary forgiven her good friend with all the experience for insulting her only child? Please :eyes:

Calm down. I didn't address you personally, I responded to the claims in your post.

Obama was probably paying no attention to the brouhaha over Chelsea, anyway. By the way, if you don't think Hillary being called a bitch and saying absolutely nothing about it, an outright slur, is no BFD, that's your issue to deal with. Obama is never going to defend any slur against Hillary, because it benefits him. He's as much on the side of Repubs as you claim Hillary is. Don't forget that his comm. director is Robert Gibbs, the one who morphed Dean into Osama. They don't care.

IOIYAR has become IOIYO.

Edited on Wed Apr-16-08 11:40 AM by JoFerret
in its most foul forms is alive and well in the US. On this board and also - at times - in the Obama campaign.

It is still acceptable to be misogynist. There is no denying that. For more evidence check out both the admiration and the criticism of Michelle Obama as it unfolds. But that is as nothing compared to what Hillary continues to endure - often without any check.

NONE of us gain anything by this. None of us.
