TPM: Hillary TV Ad Campaign Is Now 100% Negative in Most PA Markets
Source: Hillary TV Ad Campaign Is Now 100% Negative In Most Pennsylvania Markets

By Greg Sargent - April 16, 2008, 12:33PM
Here's a glimpse into Hillary's ad strategy in the final stretch of the Pennsylvania primary:

In most of Pennsylvania's markets, the only TV ad Hillary is running right now is a negative one -- the spot hitting Obama over his "small town" comments, a political ad buyer who tracks buys in Pennsylvania tells me.

The buyer says that as of this morning, that ad -- and no positive spots -- are running in the Pittsburgh, Erie, Johnstown/Altoona, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton markets.

Meanwhile, the buyer says, in the Philadelphia and Harrisburg markets, Hillary's ad campaign is 50% negative -- she's running two spots, the new spot hitting Obama over oil companies, and another spot touting Hillary's plans to right the economy that doesn't mention Obama.

7. I think
She's already outspent herself. News of the second loan will drop the 3rd week in May with the FEC report for April. No way she can afford to do this with the money she's raised in three states.

4. This is just sad; she has nothing to brag about so she's reduced to this?
I hope PA residents look at it that way. I wonder if her funds are so low she only has enough money for one ad.

12. Her campaign will be studied for years to come in Poli Sci Classes Everywhere...
Unfortunately it will be studied as a complete and utter disaster-going from a 20% front runner with name recognition to a candidate who must be concerned about future races in which she wil run.

10. She doesn't want to talk about the issues
She has no real plans for change, she is the lobbyists candidate, we don't know when she is telling the truth, she has all but come out and "endorsed" McCain, she has pretty much lost touch with the party, I guess she has nothing to lose, except maybe her integrity, and that might already be gone!

19. He must be with in 2-3% points or maybe she wants to win by at least 10% pts. I do not know.
Maybe she likes to run negative campaigns.

13. Every single Hillary commercial that I have seen since Monday afternoon has been negative.
I've seen 7 commercials, and every single one was the "bitter" outrage commercial. This is in southwestern PA.

18. On a higher note over 10,000 postcards from Obama supporters all over the country (& overseas)
will be going to PA voters encouraging them to support Sen Obama. Today is the final day for them to be mailed out.

14. GREAT! It has worked out SOOOO well for her in the past....
...Hopefully there will be lots of ads on bitter-gate. That was an especailly successful tactic.

What do they say about someone who continues to do the same thing when the same thing has been consistently unsuccessful in the past?

As another DUer said, "If Hillary had spent as much time promoting her own agenda instead of attacking Obama, I might have actually voted for her."

16. How does this make the case that she is electable?
She spends so much time saying that Obama is unelectable, she doesn't attend to her own image.

17. Was at a restaurant for lunch today and saw a Clinton ad on their TV...
One of the negative ones that has been playing on the radio regarding the oil company thing... But then saw one of the newer Obama ads at the next commercial break (the one that starts off with that photo of a little him and his mother next to a fence).

That's not going to help her when the WV primary rolls around in a few weeks.
